hey whats up. i am doing a sbc 355ci engine swap into a 1990 yota dlx. it has a 22re now with 5spd tranny. i only look to make a small amount of horse power. no more than 400 on N/A. i want to put a automatic chevy tranny with a shift kit in it. what transmission and transfer case do i use, and do i need to do anything to the rear end or the front drivetrain. and where can i get all the necesary parts to do the swap, like motor mounts and so on. thank u

 

well i have a 350 in my yota and it makes about 345 hp and i have stock transfer stock axles i have a turbo 350 tranny but its just not enough at 60 mph im at 3500rpms so i would go with a 700 r trans it has overdrive i have put mine through some hell burnouts mud and everything has held up and its been two years since the conversion i bought all the parts from these websites

hey, thanks. i will check out the web sights and find what i need, hopefully i can get some pics of what it looks like now. and itl be a few years procces for the swap. im in colege and have limited time to work on it

 

Take your time. It took me quite a while to get mine done. Id just spend a little time and money here and there. I think the biggest time consumer was cutting and grinding the motor mounts off the frame, and fabing the motor mounts and t-case mount. A cutting torch would have come in REALLY handy.

 

lol, yea cutting torches do wonders. i have access to just about any tool imaginable so tools shouldnt b a prob.

i use the stock transfer it has held up so far been two years since the conversion no problems yet

 

ok, kool. thanks. now did u have to move u 4x4 lever in the cab or anything? i want to try and do as clean as i can. i want this truck to be very nice when its done

 

yes you will have to cut out the floor board in order to use 4 low when i first did the conversion i didnt thik i was gonna have to but i could only use 4 hi you dont have to cut much so you can still make it look nice
