New 22re engine?

Hello everyone. I am contemplating buying a new crate motor for my 85 4runner.The timing needs to be replaced real soon and was thinking I could spend a little extra I guess a lot extra and buy a new Crate motor. I am not much of a mechanic and would pay someone to do the job.

I know there are lots of options but I would like to get the best and most reliable motor. Any suggestions on companies?

I live in Sacramento CA if there's any yota mechanics around that could show me the ropes with an engine swap that would be awesome.

Thanks everyone

if it runs strong now just replace the timing stuff and run it. I bought a complete engine kit when I did my timing because the engine had 340k miles and I figured it was at the end of its life but when I pulled the head it looked great could still see the crosshatch in the cylinders. so I just replaced the chain, guides, sprockets, tensioner, and gaskets. Now 3 years 20k miles latter she still runs like a champ. Cant beat OEM quality!

Since your close to Chico, go with Putneys Machine (22reperformance.com). Jim is by far the best 22re engine builder in the county. He built me one about 5 years ago and it has been flawless. I don't baby it and it runs strong. I did a instal thread if you look it up.

They can probably do the instal, but there always booked months out, even for their motors. Hope your truck makes it while you wait.

Oh yea, remember you pay for what you get and it's too expensive to be cheap. It was more than other places, but it was built right.
