I have 2 toyota trucks and 4 22RE engines in my garage one truck is a 1993 2wd extra cab with a 22 re 219000 miles 5 speed manual the engine runs great but has rusted through in all body panals as well as cab corners (victim of minnesota's salty winter roads) the other is a 1991 2wd extra cab from arizona with perfict body but a bad 3.0 v6 (and a gas hog when it did run)and also has a 5 speed. I want to put the 22re in the 1991 it has cruse ac and several other options witch i will try to adapt and i know i will have to change the computer, bell housing and I think the transmission as well as a few wires(k more than a few). has any one done this swap? any other problems or suggestions? I love 22re s and if all goes well i may find a couple more v6 trucks with bad moters and swap but 4wd next time. my brush beater is a 1985 4 runner with a 5 speed and a 22re with 31/10 50s with only 130 thousand on it that was a light rollover with out a clean body panal and all I have ever done to it is push the roof back out so a windshield would fit and replace the clutch and brushes in the alternator.
