94 3.0L 4Runner would like information on V8 or V6 Chevy or Toyota swaps
I would like to perform a V8 or V6 Chevy or Toyota engine swap on my '94 4Runner auto trans 4x4. I would like to maintain the height of the vehicle if possible or minimize any lifting. Are there any kits out there for any of the V8 or V6 engine transmission combinations I have mentioned? How about transfer cases? I would also like to beef up the front brakes and add discs to the rear.
Thanks so much for your help!

ive never used one but check out www.northwestoffroad.com they have some kits that are supposed to be all or at least mostly bolt up with little to no welding and fab involved.

Check out the 3.4 swap section. I have just finished this swap and its well worth the time and money. Plus, it keeps everything Toyota. Requires about a 1-1.5" body lift.
I also have a SBC swap in an 85 Toyota truck. I love to drive this truck but the 3.4 is a much easier, more direct bolt in swap. The only hang up you will run into is the wiring but once you get your head into it, it goes fairly easy as well.

The stock 3.4 produces approximately 190 Hp. The stock 22R produces (depending on the year model) between 97 and 112 IIRC.
The 3.0 is rated at 145-150 HP and the difference between it and the 3.4 is very much worth the swap in my opinion.
I would think that the swap from a 22R to a 3.4 should result in a hugh change in the response from the skinny right pedal.
