81 Celica Supra 5ME swap into 87 Pickup??

A good friend of mine has an 81 Celica Supra which has I believe a 5M-E 2.87L straight 6. This is a pretty quick little car. He's considering doing a swap to a small block V8 or something, and I could probably pick up his 5M-E at a decent price if that's what he decides to do.

My 87 pickup has a 22RE 5spd in it, and the motor runs pretty good but it does have 406000 kms on it. I thought of picking up the celica motor and doing a rebuild on that too keep for the day when my 22RE burns out on me.

Just wondering how big of a job this would be, any fabwork, motor/tranny mounts, and whatever else I would have to consider. I would probably be able to get whatever from his car included that I would need for the swap. Its not my DD so its more of a long term project with the boy. How hard is it to get parts for the build for this motor? Would I be better off just doing the re/re on the 22re if/when something happens to the motor? It does burn a little smoke when you first fire it up but runs pretty smooth and quiet.

Any comment/suggestions/opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I hate 5M-E motors. I'm also probably one of the few people on this forum that's torn one down though. I spent a lot of time working on a turbo 5M-E for a friend. It's actually VERY similar to a 22R-E, with more cylinders.

If you use the 5M-E bellhousing, you can mount it to the truck's tranny, I'm not sure about the engine mounts though. I THINK they're very close to the 5M-GE mounts, so you SHOULD be able to use 5M-E upper mounts, and 22R-E lower mounts to fit it in, but I'm not positive.
