I put a 95 4.3 in my 92 4runner. It's almost done. Are you going to run an auto or 5speed? Ive spent about $3500 on my engine swap , but EVERYTHING
has rebuilt and upgraded. I used everything from an s10 blazer and it should pass smog. I live in california also.

If you put a 4.3 in everything will need to be fabricated. I have a cpi 4.3, there the most hp stock 4.3. But they came with auto's and the wiring need's to plug in to the transmission. If your keeping the 5 speed and you want a 4.3
get a carb'ed or tbi but will have about 160 hp. Unless you put on 96 and newer head's then it will up the hp. If you want an easy swap with 5 speed go 3.4. I hated working on my 3.0 and the 3.4 doesnt look any easier . The 4.3 is so simple to work on .

it cheaper to swap a 4.3 mine passed the ref the first time all you need is a bell housing or tcase adapter set of ca legal headers a speedway motors radiator you can use stock 4.3 motor mounts from napa and install all of the smog equipment. mines a 92 cpi 4.3 in my 884runner
