manual locking hub and dowel pins question.

Hey everybody, i’m relatively new to the whole sas stuff. i recently bought a semi built axle and swapped it into my 88 extended cab. the only thing it didn’t come with is manual locking hubs. so i found a used pair online and when i went to put them on, i realized there wasn’t enough holes. For some reason I have all 6 dowel pins in the rotor. I was told they should just pull out which I tried and they don’t. I saw a 4x4 flange conversion that uses all 6 dowel pins but i wasn’t really wanting to do that. does anyone have any advice or similar situations? Should i grind them off and drill them out, or should i drill extra holes into my hub? not only is there not enough holes but the dowel pins don’t even fit into the two holes on my locking hubs. i’ve tried both straight axle hubs and ifs hubs and the dowel pins are thicker than what holes are already there. PS. I know i don’t have my studs installed yet I ordered arp studs and haven’t put them in. and have tried doing anything else with it until i figure out the dowel pins situation.

Yup, looks like someone added a few more. You also have the good style of wheel bearing adjustment lock in there which is cool.

If you heat the hub up they may pull out, they are usually pressed in pretty tight. You can also just cut them off flush with a grinder.

Or drill holes in your lockout to utilize the extra pins. The pins currently in the hub may be larger than factory, so you may have to enlarge the hub holes anyway.
