Auto to manual hubs?

What year manual hubs can i use to replace my '88 autos? The hub release spring is broken in one and I'm trying to decide to fix or swap.

Just remember to get the extra nuts and locks to hold the hubs on the axle

With only one nut they tend to come loose and make a mess.

Thanks, I've found one new oem auto hub assembly left in the country for a cool $535. So even though I hate to alter this one I'm trying to get past that.

Manual is the way to go. Check the classifieds section, I have a nice cleaned-up pair for sale. I'm also in GA.

You can get new from your dealer or see if where ever you get your hubs from has them

You want every thing that comes off with the manual hubs

Good to have the Correct size socket as well 52MM sure beats hammer and chisel

Aren't the spindle nuts 54mm??

54mm= 2 and 1/8 inch.

Had to break out the 1 inch drive stuff to find a socket that big when I packed my bearings a few weeks ago.

Yea they're 54mm. You shouldn't need that socket to swap to manual hubs though

True, but it would be a shame not to repack the bearings if its been awhile, when you're into the front that deep.

Ok. When you said extra it made me think it was something i'd need to add. And thanks on the socket size. That'll save an extra trip.

Not including rebuilding/painting the hubs, it took me under 2 hours to take out add hubs and install aisin hubs.

The auto Hubs only have one nut.

to swap to the manual hubs you should have the thrust washer the adjusting nut the lock ring with the tabs you bend over and the lock nut the one that holds the whole thing on.
