what i NEED and what i DONT

ok i have an 85 4runner good shape 225,000 miles. motor is kick @ss in it runs great has a 5 speed . i just got 35/12.50s for it. it also has a crappy 4in lift on it now. i plan to do 3in lift up front and 4in in the rear. i plan to do allpro or wabfab but i dont have the cash to do it right now. i plan to go wheeling in april and i just need to get the basics on it before i go. what i know i need is new front shocks and shock hoops, shackles front and rear and shock mounts for the rear what else should i get before i go. iam trying to nots pend more then 1k. i can do all the work my self and i weld so i dont need to spend money on that.i have searched and searched but have not really found what iam looking for.Do i need high steering or can i survive with out if for the first time stuff like that

If your current shocks are in good shape, the ones for a 4" lift should be fine.If they are limiting travel now, then measure what you have and determine what you need for size after the new springs are installed. Shackles and spring hangers would depend on what springs you get and where you relocate spring hangers to, etc.

Crossover steering would be a good place to start with, in fact you may find you need to do that before you upgrade the front suspension due to clearance for the stock steering components with the thicker lift springs:
