3 inch kit is stiffer the the 4's and not quite as flexy and the height is no different to be honest I've installed both have 37's with my 4's and 35's with my dads 3's and his truck is actually a little taller and he can easily clear 37's. And Paul are you coming home at all this winter? We need to wheel at some point!!!

IMHO if you're spending the money on the SAS there's no reason to settle for 33's. You can run 33's on a good IFS setup "oxymoron" and have a very capable rig. I can go anywhere my buddy goes with his SAS and he's got 35's. Granted, it takes a lil longer trying to find the right line and I might blow a CV when his truck is just crawlin easy. I'm goin with 37's and 5.29's. I'd hate to dump all that $ in it again just to want to bigger again. 33's worked out good for a while but it's pretty slugish with factory 4.30's and if I'm tearing into gears...... pretty much "go big or go home".

Good luck man

ok thanks alot bro. I really want to avoid the IFS lift just casue of all the moving parts, and its just not as strong as the SAS. I just dont do alot of hardcore wheelin and think that 35's might be overkill. but thanks alot for your input it really helps!

This is with the trail gear 4" hd springs. It rides a lot better on the street, doesnt bottom out anymore with the winch and the 3.4

Nice truck!

I have the same truck. 92 ex cab, 3.4 swap, 5 speed, dual cases 2.8/4.7 and have just about everything now for the SAS. I will be using the 4" HD springs and wondering your thoughts about the hanger. I have the Marlin hanger and have always heard to mount it 1/2 up with the 4" springs. You said that didn't work for you and mounted it flush.

My question is, after you changed to the HD springs, any ill effects of having it flush? You angles look good but I don't know what springs you have on in each picture.
Thanks

this summer in idaho

This picture has the hd springs installed on the truck. I think that the hd springs and the regular springs are the same length, although I never measured. With that said, once my regular springs broke in, the shackle angle was a little more kicked back from where it is now, which I thought was better. I think the hd springs will come down a little more but I probably won't notice it.

I don't know if the marlin hanger is the same as the trail gear hanger, I assume they are very similar, but I think i would still flush it up in the front, and maybe look into sliding the frame tube jigs as far forward as you can get them instead of centering them, to get a little more shackle angle.

If it would help I could measure the distance from the center of the front hanger bolt to the center of the frame tube jig, this way it would not matter if the hangers were the same or not. Just a thought.
