Toyota SAS Project

Im about to start a headache, I have a 1986 Toy SR5, For the heart a Ford 302. I recently was given 2 Dana44 with 5.29 gears, My mechanic buddy took them off his 72 Blazer to upgrade to Dana 60/12 bolt. Now I have very many a questions, Im running the Stock tranny (using tranny adapters by northwestoffroad). The Engine was rebuilt for me at a price of material, so this is why im using a ford 302. For those of you that have done a D44 swap, what Springs did you use and did the wheel placement look the same as the IFS? what kind of Spring hangers did you use? Shock placement? I know its crazy bear with me. I have full access to a shop and can weld. Thanks for your help

This outta get good Dude a SAS is not something you just throw together. It requires a ton of research as there is almost an endless amount of combinations and possibilities of how it can be done. Your being completely ignorant coming on here and asking how to build your entire front end when it's blatantly obvious by your post you have no clue what your getting in to. Visit the various tech forums like pirate4X4.com (for the love of god don't ask this stuff on there) TTORA.com also has a ton of SAS info. After you've read for days and educated yourself come back and ask some specific questions and you'll probably get a lot farther.

Good luck with your build...you need to some research--As mentioned in the above post--search pirate4x4 and ttora.com
A tape measure will show that a 72 Blazer is wider than an '86 Toyota.

A tape measure will also show a 72 Blazer didn't come with Dana 44's from the factory.

If it is from a 72 blazer it is a d44 front and a 12 bolt rear. If he is upgading surely he is using a d60/14b.

awsome!! good luck with tha build man!!!
and as mentioned....no such thing as too much research. the more you read the more questions thatll come up. keep reading. use google to search the different boards...if you go to adv search on google you can search specific domain names for desired content... ie only search marlin.com or pirate4x4.com etc. also, whats been helping me is orgainzing all dat info. it's a ton of stuff if it's new to you. dont get overwhelmed....get organized. get a hold of service manuals and all dat kinda . oh and uh
