No pictures; however, I have removed two leaves from the front, added some 3* shims, fabbed a driveshaft with single ends, installed a detroit in the rear, installed cromoly hub gears, and I'm sure other things. I am very pleased with the ride height. It is perfect for 33" tires, which was my goal. I do believe that I will need a new front 3rd member as I trusted the guy that I purchased it from when he said it was a 4.56 third. I think it's more like 4.30. I know I should have checked it and I am more than stupid for not doing so, but it's not my first mistake.

It's been a fun ride. I am taking it out for the shakedown run exactly one year from my decision to SAS it (this Sunday).

Ride height. I am very pleased with this height. It's perfect for stuffing 33" tires. 35" are the max. Pretty rare for a standard SAS.

Didn't use chevies. I used the trailgear 4" springs. Huge difference in length...

My setup is: Trail-gear 4" de-arched rear. Trail-gear 3" front with bottom two leaves removed.

I do not recommend this. It flexes really well; however, my front leaves are pretty flat and provide little up-travel. It will suffice until I can afford 37" tires, longs, and either new leaves or a linked setup (hopefully after graduation in May).

The shims are just 3.5 degrees, which may negate themselves...

 

Damn I love that ride hight!!! I have the same set up but have not removed any leafs. As it is right now with the stock bumper and V6 I hammer my bump stops. Are you running the TG bump stops or somthing else? Got and pictures of the bumpstop lengths and travel?

I have Chevys in the rear of mine and needed a 3" block to make it level. Looking at getting 4" TG rears, problem is all the gear I take in my truck camping is easy 700lbs.

Again truck looks great!

No bump stops until I extend my shock hoops...I know it's bad, but I do not have much up-travel anyways. Once again, I do not recommend my setup and I will probably add the second leaf here soon for more support (without the shims).

The trails that I do - require a low stance. Unfortunately, 4Runners do not accommodate that in any form short of a very custom suspension which is a far cry from the standard SAS kit. I do love my SAS and it allows me much more flexibility than IFS; however, I am a "perpetually build it stronger" kind of guy...

 

Well, my worries about my suspension finally got to me. Here is the next front setup in progress:
3-link w/integrated upper and lower on the double side (radius arm) and fox 2.0 airshocks.

 

i know this thread is old but dude, i have a 1991 4runner and i converted my fourlink to a leaf spring setup off a 1991 p/u truck, it was so easy. all you need to do is cut the coils out and align your leaf springs up with new spring perches elded onto the axle and then run 1.5 inch shackels on your frame and walla! consider your rear end done. but if you want to get crazy with it. get 8 inch shackles and run 63 inch chevy springs up upgraded springs in the front and youll have a one bad ass 4runner, if you havent finnished yet and need tips or ideas let me me know and ill take pictures of my 4runner for you and send them your way. good luck buddy!

 

????? Are you talking about my setup or responding to a different post? If it is toward my setup: thanks for the support/ advice, but I kinda passed that hurdle some time ago. My current suspension is: 4" modified trail-gear rear leaf suspension and 3-link w/ fox 2.0 airshocks front suspension.

 

it was towards your set up. im new to this yota forum so im learing about posting messages and stuff and knowing the dates of when the post were made haha but thats cool man.. the only problem im having with my rear leaf spring set up is my 4th spring keeps coming loose, so i keep having to smack it back in and tighten the ubolts back down. theres a couple kinks i working out but i think im getting there
