I've new pics of the rear bumper progress.















Those are the brackets that will hold the bumper body to the frame.



Gusseted and will allow to adjust the position







Aren't they nice?

That's the part that will be welded to the frame. We have choosen to weld some brackets instead of fitting the legs inside the frame because I'll be running an auxiliary fuel tank in the spare tire location, so less things in the way.









Some kind of metal lip will be added to cover that space. I've prefered to left it a bit separated from the body to prevent contact when flexing and also to allow to step in the bumper

This is the Toyota LJ-70 tank (90 liters) I'll be using as secondary tank.





Don't know yet if I'll be using gravity or pump system, but as both tanks are Toyota I think I will be able to put a commuter and switch between each sending unit.

Hey i want to get them stock tail lights u have there? u think u can get them for meeh because here in califorina they dont have those tail lights or which i havent seen anyone have them. and is it for 90-95 4runner'

 

Those are the European tail lights of the last (>92) 2nd Gens. They have backup lights on them and we have the rear fog light (Mandatory here) in the tailgaite.

Those are expensive in the dealer, maybe you will like to buy a set of those clear ones on the English eBay. I'm waiting to break one of mines to buy them, but if you want to buy mines hehe

I've new pics of the dual diesel tank system. The tank used it's from a Toyota LJ-70, it's 90 liters (23.8 gallons).



We've made a crossmember behind the tank because it's mandatory to legalize the dual tank setup. Tank must be protected in case of impact by a crossmember, the bumper it's sturdy but not for the engineers...











This is the tank crossmember. It also serves as tank support in the rear of the truck



This is the space where the spare tire was. We removed the little crossmember that supported the crane used to lift it.

I'm happy because I don't loose many ground clearance (Tank it's not in the departure angle) and I'll have a total amount of diesel of 155 liters (41 gallons) which is very good for the desert trips to Morocco, Tunis, etc...

Hello,

I've new pics of the dual tank setup.

This is the tube coming from the aux tank. We notched the body to clear it.





It doesn't seem to be 90 liters (Almost 24gal)



We cut the exhaust but it will exit throught the bumper side





Here the tank crossmember is bolted and fitted inside the frame



This is the nice dual filler we made with the stock LJ-70 one

Hello,

I've new pics of the dual tank system.



Also the exhaust has been modified to exit behind the rear wheel. I wanted to have it exit throught the bumper side but bumper sides are only a bit wider than the body so we can't do it.



Also left the LSPV fully operational with the new height



I still have space here for an air tank hehe







The dual filler tubes and breathers



We used the LJ-70 filler because it has a better shape than the stock



It has "Y" shape



Looking to the right you fill the stock tank...



...and to the left the new one



As the injection pump on diesels suck the gas from the tank we're using two solenoids to select which tank you want, one for the engine feeding and the other for the injector return line.

Very nice job David! I like your modifications.

Have you got any progress with Island-model fender flares? My friend wants those too to his 4Runner.

P.S. I dynoed my KZJ90 with water-ic, 3" exhaust + little pump adjustment =152 hp/327 Nm.

I think you should adjust the fuel amount, it´s very easy thing to do and cost nothing. I did it to my ex-4Runner. You can get after that 150 hp very easy with intercooler.

Hi Matti,

I won't be putting those nice flares at the moment. The engineer said me I can use those rubber extensions for legalization so I'll be using them. I tried to contact the Icelandics by mail, a job mate who is Swedish wrote them, and also a Pirate4x4.no member helped me sending mails them and I got no reply. I suppose they simply don't want to do business.

We've adjusted the fuel amount and will shim the turbo wastegate a bit. We've still to dyno it but we want to put the hood scoop first.

We picked up the truck from the body shop. It rained mud so the truck is dirty but you can see how awesome the 2008 Hilux hood scoop looks on a 4Runner:
