Less lift on my SAS'ed PU?

I picked up an 88 x cab with an SAS done to it using the Trailgear kit, 4" I believe. I have a set of 35's on it, as that's as big as I want to go rubber wise. The truck is way too tall, both for running around in and for wheeling with such a high COG.
So, is there an easy way to lose a few inches of lift? Can I just pull some leaves out of the pack, or will the springs be too soft then? Or, am I better off just getting sprigs with less lift? The axles have had a cut n turn done with the lift, so I guess if I take too much lift out of it I will need to re-angle them. Anyone take lift out of an SAS, or is everyone into the super tall rigs?

Why did you buy it then?

NO, there is not an easy way to lose a few inches of lift? Shorter shackles will help some. Perhaps 3" leaf springs but any shorter and the high cross over steering will no longer be viable...not to mention the perches turned.

What is the height at bottom of the frame to the floor at the d-side door?

custom leafs!
Thats what I am doing. My SAS will be 3" of overall lift. I wheeled one similar to mine and it was perfect for my needs.
I wheeled A yota with a TG 4" all around and 35's. It was too tall for me.
I understand your predicament.

I always wanted an SAS'ed PU, and got it for a good price. Runs good, drives good, shifts good, SAS looks to be done properly.
I will check out the shackles, see if I could get shorter ones. No chance on pulling out a leaf or two?
I would have to measure that, but the truck is a chore to get into, and I'm 6 foot with long legs, and I've had a bunch of lifted trucks. If it's too much of a hassle, I will let good enough alone. Could easily fit 37's IMO.

I have a TG 4" lift springs with 6" TG shackles.
I have beaten and cut the crap out of my pinch weld/fenders to let my 35's roam. (soon to be 36's)
If I had any less of a lift I would not be able to clear my tires with the wheel locked and at full stuff.
I also dont feel like the COG is too high I have had my truck in many super off camber situations and feel very comfortable with the TG suspension.
I am also running wheel spacers to increase my stance.
If you lower your truck you may not be able to clear those 35's unless you seroiusly tub the pinch weld or/and adjust your bump stops to limit your flex or/and drop down to 33's
Unless of course you dont crawl over or down cool stuff with this truck
If you just run through mud puddles and show it off then lower it and keep them 35's

did you move the spring hangar 3/4" forward? my 36's don't get close to the pinch weld. they rub on the front side part of the stock bumper sometimes though

My hanger is 1" forward
The issue:
When I am getting it on out on the trail
I sometimes will have the steering wheel fully locked one way
The front suspension will be at max flex
The rear suspension will be flexed rolling the cab towards the stuffed tire
The stuffed tire will be at full wheel lock with the rear of tire in towards the cab
Then add forward movement with the stuffed/turned inward tire compressed on a rock or stump or wall of dirt
BAM CRUNCH RUB WHOA BUDDY
Back up find a new line
Typical normal trail wheeling I have no problems but if I try hard lines and really start to play with the truck rubbage happens.
At full flex with my wheels straight I have no problem

Maybe a SAS trucks have different clearances than a 1st gen truck

Trail Gear will tell you to remove the bottom leaf all the way around. I used the TG 4" SAS with 35's and it's way too tall. I posted on the TG board and they said to start pulling leafs. One guy said removing the bottom leaf lowered his about 1 1/2" IIRC.

My floor to frame at the door is 27.5". Most will say 25" is the best height.
Here's mine compared to a stock 3rd gen,

4x nice truck, but i agree that it sits high. This is a concern for me as may truck will be SAS'd soon. I peiced my kit together using FROR hanger as he makes the lowest of hangers don't know if it will be the end all solution but will see where it puts me.

Seems that if you go changing the rear shackle to shorter you risk jacking up your chamber by putting it towards the negative. But what do I know I've only done the research not the SAS. Maybe we'll get more experienced posters in on this.

hmmm, now you got me thinking. Im about to go from stock to a 4" trail gear sas (3" front + shakle = 4") and 35 12.5's on 15X8's. (94 ext cab, 3.0) I was planning on cutting the pinch and fender triming because I thought that the 4 inch alone wouldn't do it. my goal is also to have as little lift as functionally possible for wheeling. your 4" looks higher than I would like, but it seems that you may need it in the back for full articulation..it looks like you have no fender trim??

I am curious if anyone have some exp on getting those 35's under real nice with a smaller than 4" TG lift??

Well drop a chevy 350, 454 in the front and maybe a cow or elephant in the box, you will loose a few inches
