I can get a axle from the local import yard for 350 but that doesnt come with any warranty or anything, there are alot of 83s on the lot so they arnt too rare. If yours is gona cost 350 for them to pull it and inspect it and give a warranty for 6 months that sounds pretty fair to me. I am also Canadian but live in B.C so who knows how much the markets differs. You can Also get a SFA of an 85 too not just 83-84

I got my 83 SFA for $200 CND from a guy local to me in good shape. I would say for a 84-85 $350 with a waranty is not bad. Remember if you are doing a swap you will most likly be rebuilding the axle anyways.

thanx for the info guys. where i live in alberta there are not really many choices out there, so i think this is my only option. i dont plan on beefing up the axel as of yet but will definately be rebuilding it. this will be going on a 90 4runner v6. my other question is how much of the running gear should i snag? the whole truck is there so i can get whatever i need? Suggestions?

yes i am am going to leafs in the back. gonna prob use trailgear 5 inch lift. i would like to make my own but i dont know what length the springs are. i am a welder and will have no problems making the spring mounts and brackets. does anyone know the length of these springs?

if you can fab brackets easy, buy some chevy springs (i think 63") which give about 3-4" lift from what I've heard/seen. Then most people add a bit longer shackle depending on desired lift height. Hopefully someone who has used them will chime in with better specifics for ya. I am going to be using TG's springs front/rear. If you have the money why not go TG or marlin or all pro. Up to you at this point.... depending on how much $$$ you want/have to spend

In my truck (4'' front and 5'' rear) I noticed the front of the truck getting up when cornering. THe funny thing is it doesn't come down 'till you finish steering. Don't know if this is for the SAS or for the leafs, I had never driven a leaf truck 'till I SASed mine hehe
