I'm removing the rest of the IFS brackets from my truck. How much should I cut the motor mount/upper control arm bracket to weld in the motor mount plate? I've seen many different pics on this. Is it user preference?
(I'll be using Marlins 5" SAS kit) Does anybody have any top down pics showing just how close to the motor mount was cut off?

Its more of a preference thing....just do what you think looks good...

leave enough room on the top of the mount for your gussets

 

I haven't seen the gussets welded on like that before. I was going to cut alot off, but agfter seeing that pic. I'll leave enough in case I need to mount the gussets like that.

Yea well you need to leave enough for support for the motor mount too...I would cut them pretty much flush with the outside edge of the frame

 

As dirtytoyboy sais I cut mine flush with the frame so when you cap them with the plates supplied you get a nice flat surface with the frame rail.

We cut it to where the plate sat on the frame.
