I have an 86 that I'm thinking about SASing. What have you already accomplished SASers done to match the front axle track width the the rear axle in your ifs truck? Wheel spacers? A rear axle from the same year or same truck?

 

Wheel spacers (1.5") to make up the 3" difference.

 

Dont use the 85 rear axle. Its 3" narrower, and much weaker.

As elvota suggested, use front spacers. Or, you can have the tubes extended. Or, use a Dana 44.

Or just put Unimog axles front and rear

 

Thats what I used...they work fine...just check the torque on the spacer bolts after 100 miles and every time you rotate or take a tire off...

 

with the spacers that came with my kit (allpro) used longer studs that like to break...

I broke all the studs at once and almost lost the wheel on the road. I use to alway have to replace studs, the guy at napa said they were the longest he had or have ever seen.

look into using ifs hubs or something like that (there is one company that sells a kit) to make up the difference

 

I was curious.... do your All-Pro spacers have studs inset within them, or do the studs pass through the spacers and then the wheel?

im going with a fj- 62 series axle it is wheel base is 58.75. not as many gearing options but i plan to either weld the front and put a arb when i have the coin... im still researching and prolly a year or more away.. i have the axle and its much beefier than the mini truck and im going to rebuild and long field it ... high steer system.. prolly spring over it..

also around here they want like 500 bucks for a mini truck axle..
i looked at this axle and wanted to do the s.a.s with this.
it has been done before and they people who have done it LOVE IT.

most people like the posters above use wheel spacers..

 

My All Pro spacer are of the same design. I've never had a problem with them.
