Nice work man, thats pretty much what I want my rear to look like when I'm done.
How was it to make the upper link mounts?

Truck looks great, just wondering what are the specs for the rear link mounts both on the axle and on the crossmember. Also are those just the stock rear springs and just mounted higher due to the axle bracing

mock up pics. Still have to make a driveshaft so nothing is set yet. I will adjust everything during final install.

So I wheeled it and was very excited at how well it worked. Alignment was almost bang on had to adjust a little but pretty close. The tires are my only issue and only in their balance. Off road they are awesome! Lots grab on the rocks. I will post up some pics of it finished up close and all the little stuff, making the driveshafts longer, bump stops, locker wiring when I get some time. I need to finish my reno at home because the wife and I are expecting, so wont have any extra time.

I would love to do SAS like this but you have to practically be a welding scientist or have loads of cash to drop at the fab shop. I unfortunately have neither. I hate this economy right now!

Please pardon my noobness (I'm an engine guy, not a suspension guy) what are the pros, cons, and differences of a linking system vs. a leaf & shock system. Is it worth doing if you're on a budget? Thanks!

Good build up, was wondering do you have any drawings of the spring mounts and link arms?

Pros are that it is adjustable, and completely customizeable to a point. You can locate the axle where ever you want, put the travel where you want, and you get rid of the ever annoying axle wrap.

Cons are that it isn't easy to do it right. Its not super hard, but there are a lot of little things you have to ballance out, like roll axis and center, anti dive, bump over or under steer, etc...

And no, its not for a guy on a budget.

Great build OP! Loved watching this one on Pirate.

Hey all sorry that things have been so busy and I havent really had any time to update.Got me a new little girl and she has been using up all my spare time. Thought I would throw up a couple of post to cat everyone up. Wheeled it a bunch of times last summer and the truck worked so well that I got a little cocky and this was the outcome!

so the truck is going to get a new lease on life with just a 1994 ext. pickup body, with no box.

just throw in a couple of naked pics

Thanx rocknroll....

Put the body on today to test fit and see what I have to modify. Gonna have to cut some floor and move some mounts but really nothing major.

Gonna remove the bumper and shorten up the rear about 20 inches. Gotta get this goin so we can start the exo-cage.
