There's just to much stuff to do to make the 3 link work on the 92. I really don't want to ditch the 3 link but I'm really starting to consider just going old school leaf spring and Toyota axle. I've got a lot of research to do on link suspensions.
Awesome, we'll just plan on making it a run w/ you, me, Rob and whoever else is there at that time and willing to go UP Slickrock, otherwise they can just chill and wait for Saturday.

There's alot of technical work behind linked suspension design, and getting them to work correctly takes alot of testing and re-testing. Just go with the leaves, you know how to do it and you know they work.

Not me! Maybe next year when I have my bumpers and skids. I am definately interested in watching you guys though. Is there an easier way to get to Slickrock without going up?

I believe you take #4 to Fain's Ford, then jump on #8 Bob Creek trail which will loop around to the top of Slickrock. I haven't been that way but just got that from the map.

Yup that's how ya do it, when the trail splits at the top of Fains' Ford, they would take #8 (which used to be home to the HUGe mud hole, but is now nice and paved in) at the top you can park your rigs and walk all the way down, not very fun, but worth the effort to see Slickrock from up high and watch everyone try.

Those pictures hardly do it justice, I've only seen a cople that acutally show how huge the face of Slickrock is, it's pretty impressive from the base looking up. We'll just have to see when everyone is arriving, hopefully we all get there around 3:00 or so, b/c it's going to take about an hour to get to the base.

From the videos I have seen and the stories I have heard I don't think anybody could do slickrock in 2wd. How is everything coming for you Blake? Did you get your sliders and lift on?

I second that, we're gonna have to talk a little before we even hit the trails, 2WD in Tellico is a bit sketchy to me.

Well my tow rig (Dad's) is obligated for the weekend & I am screwed without it. If I can't find a tow rig I'm out. No way I can drive my rig there. I have called all the rental places & every one has a no towing policy on their insurance. I can't risk an accident with a rental & no insurance coverage. I am still looking

Nice offer but I've seen a 4Runner used as a tow rig once, and that was just a Jeep Chrokee it had behind it, it had a serious squat to it, and it was very sahking in doing so. Rykers rig weights ALOT more than that, you would have a really long and tough trip ahead of you.

There are trails there that can be done in 2WD open, those would be trail #1, which is the trail we are staying off of, basically a gravel road that they call a trail, and #4 which has a few rocks to hop over, but after that point things get rough. I'll be taking the group on trail 5 and avoiding #4 b/c it's not all that fun at all. I guess we'll just have to feel it out when we get there.

I want you to wheel it too, and that is why I'm willing to give you a chance. No one else really would be open to letting a 2WD come along, but I'm different than most and this is a relativley small group. The locker should help out some, but I know from personla experiance that 2WD locked hasn't gotten me far before I needed that little extra from teh front wheels. Once we get to Fains Ford I'm gonna have to request that you leave it there and ride along, #8 is a serises of ledges and off camber climbs, the other trail is Slickrock and worse.

I wish I was going with ya'll but I can't. I will be at River Rock though. I have been following the thread and thought I would make a suggestion for neliconcept (two wheel drive locked), let him ride with someone the first trip out and see what he would be putting his truck through and then the next day he could go if he felt comfortable. Just a ,hopfully, helpful suggestion. Ya'll have fun it's just a few more days.

Don't count me out just yet...

I am working on a tow rig as we speak. Got to break in the new paint job on some rocks...
