Wheeling in Slade, natural bridge ky.
I'm new here by the way. I've been faithfully reading these forums for about a year now.
I have a cabin in this area, and mostly ride atv's down there. I'm shootin for the weekend of June 30th. The Jeep Jamboree will be there in the middle of june.
Tent camping for a few at my place, camp at the state park, cabin rentals, or nearby hotel. Plenty of good trails! Anyone from here wheeled down there yet?

I have wheeled there a few times but there are some trails I haven't hit yet. Going back down sometime in May with the Ky TTORA. It's only about 30 min from my house. Last I heard the Jeep Jamboree was cancelled for this year.

SlightlyModified, I will try to make it on June 30th. Have to see how it works out. I love the early 80's trucks.
littlerunner, if you want to join the ky ttora just sign up at kyttora forum . I recently signed up and they are a nice group. If your 4Runner is stock you might want to consider putting a locker in the rear (I have an Aussie locker) or some mud tires. Locker will get you a lot farther.

SlightlyModified,
Where's your cabin? I love the Gorge and it has really changed over the years. I have hiked and climbed all over the area. My wife and I where engaged there and over the years we have watched for land to have a camping cabin but land has gotten pretty $$ with the rentals going in. We've run up on some pretty good deals but we're not in a position yet.
Do you know why the Jeep Jamboree was cancelled? My jeep buddy is a trail leader and he said they have closed the roads to wheeling. I know they were cracking down on ATVs on the county and oil owned roads, but I didn't know if you know of them being open or you had private land that you where running on.

My cabin is on old 15, about at the intersection of 715. I have a 1 acre lot I would sell or trade you on (PM if interested). I'm not trying to sell, just hangin onto it until a close friend or fellow four-wheeler comes along. The problem, was on some of the private owned land. Ashland I believe has closed up some of there land also. There is still a ton of places to wheel, and I've yet to cover most of it. The lot I have is in a secluded area, with 30 other lots, and several cabins, They call it Black Bear Ridge.
They are going to be putting in a new rest area in slade, and I've heard from several people, that they are trying to encourage Four-wheeling in the allowable places. I've heard rumors about state "green stickers" and all.
If you can, plan on a trip down.

I've not had much interest in this trip. A long thought out decision with a friend of mine has lead us to build an f-toy. This means I have to finish a couple of projects before the build. That means, my 81 trail rig will be put on hold, and I'm not too sure it will be finished for this trip.
