NIX99

Hey guys, I work at Nix99, so if any of you crazy kids need hookups on parts, I can get ya connected, probably for a bit cheaper too. As for the snorkel setup, its a good idea. I was considering doing someting similar, with an inline KNN filter and some PVC pipe. I dont like the whole idea of using silicone in heapng amounts around the stock air box (safari snorkel) It rather use rubber hose and plastic pipe. Personal preference.

I was over at Nix 99 looking for a replacement drivers seat for my truck. There is nothing wrong with my seats except that they are a 60/40 split bench which I kinda hate since I can't get decent seat covers. I wanted to look for a "regular" drivers seat so that I could put a factory console in the middle. Anyhow, I was shocked to find out that they wanted $500 for a 4Runner drivers seat from a 95! I decided after that I would rather buy a pair of Corbeau Baja SS seats and adapters for like $500.

Man,
Tahuya looks like it will be a blast for you guys based on the pics I saw. I wish I could make it this time. Hopefully next time. Have fun, and don't forget the pics.

Shane, sounds great to me too. The more the merrier. Us Seattle-ites will be taking the 7:40 ferry...and at this point I guess we'll just meet up onboard. How about we all meet somewhere in the forward compartment?

Sounds good to me- I'll be the one wearing the sombrero and pink leotard

On a side note, I've actually never taken the ferry before, but there shouldn't be a problem with a dog, should there?

I know the area, I've been out to Tahuya many times. Don't look to me to find the way out of that maze though, I'm pretty good at getting lost back there. I'll post here later to let you guys know if I'm going to be able to make it. I'll be the guy with longass hair wearing camo pants.

Dogs are ok on the ferrys, I'm not sure if they're allowed in the cabin but I've seen people bring them in regardless. Otherwise just leave them in the vehicle.

Hey Guys,
I've been there more in the last 5 months than I'd care to admit.

The trees have diamond shaped markers in varies colors. We have found that if you follow the orange markers you will find your way out. Mind you, you may end up going all the around the park again, but you will get out.

Have fun.

Tahuya is a great place to wheel in the winter, expecially for "relatively" stock rigs that don't want to get banged up a lot. The trails are nice and wide, there's some fun mud holes and even the bug guys can get stuck if you try hard enough HEHE, speaking from personal experience.

The current trail system would get kinda boring in the summer when it's dry. I can't wait to see what the Quadrapaws are doing with their new trail system they are building.

Many of the other trails around here are for the hardcore only in the winter.

I'd like to do some exploring of the Greenwater area trails over the summer, to get a lay of the land.

I'd love to make the trip this Saturday, but the todo lists is not getting todone at home.

Our club is meeting this weekend and will hopefully be finallizing plans for our July 4th Obstacle course. This will be a free for all event and will be similar to a tuff truck challenge. I'll let you all know how the planning for this turns out.

Have fun and let's see lotsa pics.

I challenge anyone to do that mud put where I got stuck last time. Who's up to it???

HAHAHAHA. That you gotta get video of.

When I opened my door, my sliders were under water. I don't think you'll hydro lock your motor but remember to strap up first!

In the mud pit, the first deep section is to the right with two lanes, coming out both side of the tree stump. The other deep section is on the left side of the last mud hole. I made it through all the sections except the left side of the first mud hole. I got through going forward but when I turned around and came at it from the other direction, no go.

I'm still waiting on the vids from LA on those runs...

Just got back, we had a pretty good time. A little carnage, Mad Chemist(I'm already forgetting names, sorry ) got a dent in his rear bumper, Jim popped a fastener (or something like that, not sure) on his front bumper, and I crunched my front passenger fender a little on a tree. There may be more but that's all I can remember right now. I was also the only one who got stuck, slipped sideways a bit on one of the rock piles and ended up with a rock behind the IFS keeping me from going backwards and another rock under my rear axle keeping me from going forward. Tried to get unstuck on my own but only managed to grind some metal off the u-joint yokes. With a little tug from Markus I was free (thanks again! ). I'll have pics and vid clips up later tonight or sometime tomorrow.

It's David...hehe...but he forgot your name while we were on the trail, called you Shawn over the CB (but you didn't hear that from me).

Damn, tupperware. I need to fab up a new bumper.

Also, don't forget the hill that Markus kept trying to go up...but never did make it. Then I went right up, and Shane after me. But I won't rub it in...

Still took me a few tries though, stupid street tires. You walked right up it...

Didn't know which one it was, left before you posted this morning. I was talking with the guys about it though, had you gotten high-centered in it or how were you stuck? If that's how you got stuck then I probably wouldn't have made it either.

There might be more carnage too, my front suspension seems to be uneven now (one side reacting different than the other) and the steering is "loose". Couldn't find anything wrong yet though, nothing loose or broken that I can see. I'm gonna take a closer look tomorrow. Mabye a blown shock I do remember hearing a loud bang at one point during the run but I figured it was just from kicking up a branch off the ground or something. Didn't notice the difference until I got on I-5 afterwards.

*shrug* My own relatives call me Shawn, people are always doing that So much so that I don't even notice anymore.

No I didn't get high centered, the mud was so deep (not water) that it was up to my bumper. My buddy Mark tried to go through, didn't make it. When he reached down from his hood to attach the straps, he found that his straps were buried below the mud and he had to go around back to find an attach point.

In all the tough spots, it really was a matter of pulling up and through mud. The front tire walking trick (and dual lockers) was the key to getting through.

Cool, I see you found a bigger rock to get on than I did

We looked for a few, but it was getting time to head home, and it was dang nasty up there.

Nice pics you got there Shane, I will check out the vids after dinner.
