That would have been my guess, but I too kept reading it as "leet", so I figured there had to be more to it.

Nothing *ahem*, "l33t" about it, it's just some people who have been dependable about showing up when they say they will That makes it easier to plan

Yeah... I've read it the same way for years, and now I know... I feel so complete.

Hmmm... but wait!
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A787917

And a footnote on there says:
"pronounced 'leet'."

Ahh... wait, here's the explanation:

As with any type of competition, 'smack' talk became prevalent in online gaming. Phrases such as 'I am elite' became common place, and somewhere down the line l33t speak crept in, reforming the phrase into '1 4m 3l1t3' in order to demonstrate that the speaker was a hacker and someone to be feared. It was further exaggerated by purposeful bad spelling and eventually wound up as something like this, '1 4m 3l33t!' and simplified to, '1 4m 133t'. Hence the name 'l33t speak'.

Golly... thanks for the distraction Jim!

Unless you are running the "Baja 1000" or are solo for miles around, those lights won't do anything but make the tree right in front of you REALLY bright and tick off everyone ahead of you

There's not much point to throwing 3kw of light in front of you when the trees are only 10 feet ahead.

Night runs are not a good option for noobs. You need to be able to take care of yourself because there are a lot more things that can go wrong in the dark. It's also harder to ask someone to run back and forth to spot at every bump in the road.

Because of the snow level on Tinkham and Mt. Gardner, we will likely skip next week, at least I will, but the following week or the week after is a possible.

If you are interested, express your interest, but you need to be serious. Since we can practically only take a few rigs, it sucks when someone says they are going until the last minute, then lames out. That deprives someone else of taking that spot and coming along
WOW! I like Marks idea of the list better.

I added you a possible for the future. Let us know when you are at a point that your truck can get dirty.

I also have Greg on the list.

For those who are interested in these runs, be thinking about some form of rock lights, rope lights, neon, maglights taped to the frame, whatever, but some form of undercarriage lighting. Also, please put a switch on your daytime runners so you can turn them off.

I would love to guide a few night runs on some 'real' trails later this summer, but you need to be able to do them without blinding everyone ahead of you

Thanks!

Nah, you are close enough to the ground already without ground effects... jsut the lighting please.

There are a lot of different ideas about how to best light your undercarriage, in fact there's several essays on the web on this subject. There are patterns that allow you to minimize the number of lights required to maximize your coverage, but I tend to go with the more lights the better method You can get by with three wide angle floods if they are positioned properly, but I liked the symmetry of six.
