Is that where the dead palm trees with all of the wooden signs tacked to them are? If so, I've been there. the last time we went we had to turn around prematurely due to a stock rig. I'd definately like to investigate further.

 

At the end of the Calcite Mine trail is an old... Calcite mine . Its actually really cool to hike around and explore the slot canyons in the area. No palm trees though.

I was there a month ago and I pulled this guy, the inventor of "gookinaid," out of a hole. He had tried to drive an '80s astro van up the trail. He then gave me a bag of his drink mix, which was actually pretty good.

I can't make this trip. My mom just got out of the hospital, and I need to hang around.
