I don't think you want the hair cut I would give you. You would look like a jarhead like me.

Hey all, I havn't chimed in for a while, but I'm still. Planning on heading out friday afternoon. I'm going to try to leave SD 4:30ish. My bros and I are probably going to camp friday night and head home after SuperBuger on Saturday.

Has anyone heard about what the weathers going to be like this weekend. A guy from work was in o-wells last weekend and thay had to leave early because the wind was unbearable. If its really windy when were there we can just hang out in the canyons.

green sticker?

is this part of the park green sticker friendly, or plated only? and does pole line rode go all the way to the from 78 to s22?
ps - why are maps on CA parks always so crappy? i would think so you'd have to buy the map at the park, but these are free at the ranger station...

Hey Marc, do you have any kind of agenda yet? What about a fire Sat night? I don't know where the strict areas are. I really want a fire so what do we need to do to make that happen?

I love the outdoors and may fall into your category of "greenie". I like to respectfully offroad on existing roads. In fact I work as a geologist and spend many of my days driving backroads and washes mapping. Last time I was in CA I was near Ocotillo Wells. That place is a hell on Earth to me. Literally hundreds if not thousands of bikes, buggies, and various other vehicles screaming all over the place including across the highway we were trying to drive on. These were not respectful people and that whole area has been turned into a dustbowl because of them. I think trails should be open to all but I can clearly see why there are protests by environmentalists regarding offroading in general in sensitive areas.

I know I'm probably in the minoroty on these forums for thinking this way, but I thought I would throw my opinion out there nonetheless. As for ocotillo wells and other dune-type areas, I think allowing dune buggies, bikes, etc in a defined area is OK, but some people cannot handle the responsibility to offroad wherever they want. These people give everyone who likes to offroad a bad name and are the reason for the environmentalist protests.

I don't know you, and you don't know me. I am a very strong advocate of Tread Lightly. Ask anyone that has offroaded with me. What I dont like is environmental groups finding loopholes to stop recreational activities.

If you are posting because you want to join us, cool...

We have 2 choices for Sat night if you are staying over...

1. Stay in the Truckhaven area...probably across S22 like I had planned. There are really no fire restrictions there. Just like at Superstitions, there are rock rings all over the place.

2. Travel down to TDS to check out the rigs. Maybe crash the TTORA guys party or just find another spot. This area will be a dustbowl and LOUD!!

I am not sure of my exact plans. Looks like I will meet you guys at the end of N. Marina Dr on Sat morning, and I will camp Sat night. My wife on the other hand wants me to camp Fri night and come home Sat night

What is the spot?

I am thinking of staying off the S22 on friday night. I can meet up with people or do my own thing, whichever is cool.

We might have an 86 runner with a 3" body lift, street tread 31's, and open diffs. Break out those tow straps!

What is a BOOS? If you meant BOOBS...I say, the more the merrier!

Fire wood is always a nice addition.

I should be there firday night about 9:30ish if all goes well.

From the north, you could come down the 15, take the 76 to the 79 to the S2, the 78 E. That will get you to Ocotillo Wells.

You could also just take the 78 East, but it is very twisty at times. Not much fun for the passengers.

PM me if you want my phone number. Don't forget those BOOBS.

I have finally figured out what I am going to do....

Meeting place is the end of N. Marina Dr at 9:30am Sat

We will wheel Truckhaven and maybe do the Calcite Mine trail. After wheeling anyone who wants to will have dinner at Super Burger.

From there I will head over to Ocotillo to check out the TDS festivities. I may camp there of find a place in the Split Mtn area.
