This summer I'm going out to my family reunion down in the St George area (Rockville to be exact) and hope to bring my rig down. So I was wondering where some good spots to wheel are?

What kinda wheelin' do you want to do? That area is extremely scenic- Zion Nat. Park, Bryce Canyon Nat. Park, and Cedar Breaks Nat. Monument are all easy day trips. There are some hard core trails there too, but I'm not familiar with that part of the area. There should be plenty of FS roads/trails to explore in the area too- get a local map and check it out.

Did a quick search for 4x4 trails:

Cool thanks for the links. Rockville is about 15-20mins away from Zion. I'm not going to do anything extreme just cause I'll need to drive the rig back to CO when I'm done.

I'm not familiar with that area, either, but you might want to check with these guys: http://rockymountainextreme.com/index.php?

I've never run across any reports, or anything else for that matter, from them in that area, but I'm sure there has to be a few familiar with it. I'm not aware of any other Utah boards.

Zion is awsome, as is the surounding area. It's been a few years since we went thru, but it should be really nice this year due to a wetter than normal winter. I really like the eastern end of the park- there is some really unique geology to be seen, and it was much less busy too...

Don't know what route your planning, but if you have the time, take the back roads vs. I-70 to I-15. If you plan your route, you could come down thru Capitol Reef Nat Park via Hyw 24 (it starts out thru a virtual moonscape!) to Hyw 62 that joins with Hyw 89, head south to Panguitch, take 143 to Cedar Breaks, turn south on 148 to 14, head west to I-15 at Cedar City, then on down to St. George. We've done portions of this route on various trips- it's all good!
