Looks like I just got the "approval"...so I will be coming along too.

It has been too long since my last trip along Hwy2.

Are we gonna see any snow on this run? Never been to Reiter b4.

I think, based upon my trip to Tonga Ridge this weekend past, that we not likely to see snow at Reiter. Some of the trails that lead up into the hills might have some, but I doubt we are going to get that far.

Excellent, my 87 Runner is finished (stock height though Doh!) so it will rock. Probably no snow though, which is fine. I will be forced to stick to the easy trails mostly, so im sure you will want to branch off later on. We will stay at KFC til around 9 am, so as to catch the stragglers. Im coming in from marysville, so it aint too far from Monroe. I have to get up @ 5 am that day. DAMN! I have to get my little brother and pick up a really hot chick. So once again, here it is: Sat. Feb 15th 8:30 AM Monroe KFC, enroute to Reiter pit, and we will stay at KFC til about 9 am. After that, if you miss us, just drive on up!

We should probably pick a CB channel now in case there are any stragglers.

Anyone have a favorite?

After reading the page that Corey posted about the effort to get 4x4's on channel 4, I tend to start there these days.

Yeah, that's a good place to start...

Except when there's a lot of chatter...which is usually a sure thing when visiting a designated ORV area.

But yeah, Ch4 is cool...we can always change if a problem comes up.

channel 4 isn't too noisey, and a nice thing if you get into trouble the neighboring golbar nature trails monitor that channel..
If its not raining and I have some free time I might zip up, and no, there won't be any snow(look out my back window to the top of isabel, nope, nutin)

I just meant that if everyone goes w/ one channel...and you're at a park on a busy day...you may not get to chat with the group your drivin' with.

I dunno, I guess I have never run into that prob. before...but it's just something to keep in mind.

I have been crowded off of channel 4 on the Naches before, but if we get up there and find that everbody and their uncle is on there, we can always migrate elsewhere.

Back in "old" days, when everyone ran modified CB's, my club ran channel 59 and you didn't need to worry about tripping over others or listening to some half-witted, unemployed "skip shooter" repeating "AUDIO, AUDIO" over and over again... I have continued to keep my frequency agility ready against the day when that trend comes back into fashion

We'll have to keep you guys with CB's in the front and rear of the lines. I dont have one yet (yeah, i know dumbass me) I was considering picking up a walkie talkie (motorola handheld) but with everyone on channel 4, that wont do me any good. Where is a good place to get a CB? Ill be ripping apart my dash here in the next few days, so I might as well install a CB.

I have dealt with him quite a few times for parts.

I bought my Cobra online though from Copper Electronics.

I just bought mine at Fred Meyer. It's basic and functional.

Along with the place Corey mentioned, there is Truck City...

(thanks, Rob, for pointing out that place)

No problem Jim. I have been using Truck City for a few years and have had pretty good luck with them. They are not the cheapest in town, but they have a good selection and they can "tune up" your radio while you wait

So, what's the count of people going? I might be able to go if my other plans fall through.

Man,
while I was gassing up I was looking at my tires and noticed there was some grease on the innerside.....Upon closer inspection, my drivers' side cv boot is torn and theres a bunch of grease that's been flung around. And when I installed the Aisin hubs just 2 weeks ago it looked fine. Just my luck! So, no wheeling for me until I can replace the boot. I'm probably going to replace that axle shaft too while I'm down there, then I'll have a spare.

I have 3 spares if you want one. $25 each. I no longer need them since I no longer use them.

Don't let a torn boot stop you. If the CV is already compromised and you're going to replace it anyway, run it, have fun. The torn boot and a little dirt won't hurt anything.

The dirt will affect wear, not strength.

But wear CAn affect strength. You can get slop, and that slop will cause things to load and break...

I agree, but not on a CV boot that has been torn for less than 2 weeks and there's nothing noticeable except some grease.

I'm not suggeting that he leave it that way, but if it's a fresh tear, it's not going to break that fast. I wouldn't cancel a run just because I have a torn boot and he plans to replace it anyway. I'm sure you have a few dozen of these shafts hagning around as well.

My suggestion, get a spare and either put it in or carry it with him if possible If not, have fun this weekend and get on it soon.
