Pismo closure?

So the wife rings from work. She's had a bad week and wants to get away. SHE suggests Pismo. After I pick myself up off the floor and send her a big kiss over the phone, I'm on to the booking site (Reserve America).

BUT.........

Oceano Dunes is closed through 4/9/06 due to flooding.

Damn!

I gave the park a call and they said the creek is flowing pretty fast so they are opening and closing the dunes based on rainfall and access. I guess we'll go and hope for the best.

Damn!

When are you guys planning on going? I can check for you if Im passing by.

I was there last Monday night when it was raining and it wasnt too bad, but the rain early this week should have made it impossible to cross. Its been pretty nice Thursday and Friday but it might start raining again today...

We're heading up there today mid afternoon (Sat 4-8-06). Looks like the rain is suppose to hold off until Sunday at least and it is predicted to be only a light shower.

If you want to check out some cool pics of the creek, go to my brother's site:

http://www.yo-banana-boy.com/
click on photo gallery and then the creek.

Some people have lost their rigs in the creek.

Great webpage! Does your brother sell wood too? I bought 4 bundles from a bright green truck on Saturday.

It was pretty deep on Saturday evening at high tide. I thought I might not get thru with only 2.5" lift but it was ok. Got hit by a wave tho that hit the passenger doors pretty hard.

My dad, my brother and I went the year of or the year after we had the El Nino storms and we say a lot of cars floating. We saw a nice Lexus floating, a Caravan, an Explorer. It was a funny site to see the locals and the tow truck drivers just sitting and waiting for someone to get stuck.
