Hey Guys! Went to the dunes yesterday and the beach camping was full (they even put signs at the gates)! But I think you could still camp in the dunes.

We took my buddies 01 Tacoma out and at the end of the day when airing up the tires we noticed that the drivers side upper shock mount was busted! Opened up like a flower!!! After putting it on a lift at his friends shop we could clearly see the passenger side mount was starting to crack too! 8 hours of torching, pounding, welding and grinding later we were finally back on the road.

Sorry, no pics... My old D60 broke

How about catching some air when you SC kicked in going up the dunes??? That was sick. I'll most likely be there..... Fun times...

Looks cools...!! but only up to where the rocks & boulders are... That's way too extreme for my Rig -- Maybe some others guys that are going may be able to handle it...?? Wouldn't mind going up there though...

Those are the stairsteps. That's pretty much the only challenging obstacle on that trail. Stockers might have fun on some of the rougher sections though. Including airing up, getting from camp to the trail head (ranger station) will take at least an hour and another 30 minutes to the obstacle.

The obstacle itself is not for beginners and mostly not for stock trucks. If you're willing to bash your truck and break things and don't mind falling off the 500 foot cliff to your death, then a stock truck should make it.

A rear locker, armor and a good spotter will definitely help things though.

I am always up for new things but if its dangerous then I can understand. If anyone is heading up that trial, i'd like to try it out. We can always back out if it gets hairy.

You can also try garcia ridge trail out that way, but a couple years ago they graded it...not sure how it is now a days.

Also maybe some people will be up for a trip to big falls (if it's open).

I was wondering the same thing? I don't want to drive all over the place pulling a cargo trailer with ATV's in the sand.

^ Guys, you're worrying too much about it. It won't be hard to find camp.

After you turn into Oceano Dunes SVRA, you'll be on "Sand Highway". Follow that down the beach. You'll see lots of trailers and campers to the left, the ocean to the right.

You'll cross a little stream that dumps in to the ocean. Keep on going down. It'll likely be a 10-15 minute drive to the end of the camping stretch. Then you'll see a fence at the end of the beach, but it only goes say 50 years or so in , then turns and goes parallel to the water. When you hit that fence you turn with it, heading up the beach. That's pretty much the end of the line for beach camping, which happenens to be around mile marker 6. Our camp, as in years past, will be right around that point. You gotta look for the big bunch of Yotas.

Look at this map, it's of the general area camp will be: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=pismo+...7653&t=k&hl=en

If you don't see everyone, try using a CB channel to make contact. Also, right before the 5th, I'll put out my cell phone number and a couple others ought to also to give guests a number to call if necessary.

It's a big place and it would be very tough to find camp blindly, but the instructions above should guide you to the right place. You will find camp.
