NW WA. state Summer Jam 2003

Here are a few sites that give some info on events in local communities.
Enumclaw is the closest town of any size if you don't count Greenwater. I didn't find a site for Greenwater, but did not do an extensive search.
This is the TTORA Washington Chapter site. They've got a schedule of some of their events on the Naches. There must be other groups with schedules that people know of.
There is a bicyle event called Ride Around Mount Rainier (RAMROD) that may generate extra bike traffic on hwy 410 which is the Western entrance to the Greenwater/Naches Trail area. Its scheduled for July 31 (a Thursday) this year. RAMROD
This is Auburn's (Corey's digs) web site. Probably nothing here that directly affects, but I included it anyway.
This is a link to the local Ranger district . They do have a road report, but that won't be of much use right now.

There's not really any big events in the area that would affect us, just need to avoid the holiday weekends as lots of families and small clubs will be in the area taking up all the campsites.

Can we go play at Kaner Flats one day?
Looks like there is not too much that is flat about them.

Corey,
Any dates set yet. The wife is starting to fill up MY summer schedule.
So far I've been able to tenitively keep July and mid Aug open but she's really putting on the heat.

I won't be making any out of state trips this summer. I started a new job last week and asking for 10 days off in mid-summer is out of the question. I'll be lucky to get a 4 day weekend for CO4RJ.
Maybe if there is something cooking in the fall i'd be able to make that.

Hi Guys,
I would like to see the basic map of this trip soon. How big is it? What type vehicles will be able to travel with us?

As with most runs, EXPECT scratches but you shouldn't expect damage on this run.

I would change what Gibby said just a bit. With significant care, stock rigs can be driven through the Naches with no damage. But if you get cocky or don't pay attention, some areas are REALLY tight and minor damage is possible.
With that said, I did the Naches eight times last Summer, divided between the two directions and picked up nothing more than some new Northwest pinstriping from overhanging branches. In the vehicles that I did see pick up damage, it was due to drinking on the trail, an inexperienced driver too proud to call for spotting or outright driver error.
By the time the event rolls around, I will have already done the Naches several times, so I will be able to give good trail reports.

I ran it in October of '99 with running boards on still and full street pressure in my tires.
Was I scared? You bet
I got through without one scratch or dent, and only very minor pin striping which did not even phase the 1/4" wax on my rig
I had good spotters helping me out.
Wish I had a locker though for that, as I had to take a few different lines at times to get over big tree roots.
I could not see a thing, and it was the spotter who got me through the difficult parts.
My eyes were wide open for the most part of that trail, and like Rob mentioned, you just need to pay attention to your path.
Their are tight spots that need careful snaking around obstacles.
