Guys I want to add one thing, but disregard if you are a true cooking fiend

please do not bring *too* much food to the potluck. Just about every pot luck i've been a part of on these trips ends up in a ton of excess food. Wasting food is not good in my book!

I would say a good portion to bring is about a serving of 4-5. Everyone seems to do the sampling thing at the potluck, so a serving of 4-5 goes a long way.

now, what shall i bring?

I'll bring ember roasted sweet potatoes, and San Luis Sourdough for all. That's all I can think of right now.

Unfortunately, I think I have one of the garmin ones that will only accept a certain software. I will have to check.

Reggie, if you bring the ice cream, i will bring the churros. churros and ice cream is the BEST combination in the world! wait...chicken wings and beer are actually the best combo, but i digress...anyways, i will bring the churros, fudge and caramel sauce as well.

My wife is a vegetarian, so if there are any others of the veggy type, I will bring extra veggie burgers to the potluck.

Damn! I liked Glenn. I enjoyed his company on the DV trip. I got my campsite for Mammoth right next to him for protection from the bears too! Damn!

Cool John!

Just a heads up - I'm bringing bikes for the kids and self. Maybe trying to hire one for wifey up there. If you have, and can, bring bikes too. This is a serious family trip for us so I want as much family friendly stuff as possible. We bought a new tent, air matresses, toasting sticks (like yours at BBB) and a bunch of other stuff for this trip. I think the wives will have some fun. Mine is planning to just hang out around camp and enjoy nature rather than hop in the truck and offroad (although there will be some of that )

Cheers
Mark

mark,

i'll be bringing my mtn bike and i am not sure how much i will ride it. it will fit anyone under 5'8", so dont rent the bike if your wife can fit on my bike. its a early 90's bridgestone mb2. hey, she's showing her age (the bike, not your wife!), but she was a kick arse mtn bike in her days

yeah, bummer glenn cant go. urgent biz matters, he says.

if no one takes glenn's spot, what do you guys think about using his campsite for a central group hanging out place? if so, would you guys be ok with pitching in a a buck or two per couple to do this?

thanks,
bob

Hi Mark,

I have been thinking about how to bring mine and the kids bikes up with us. I currently do not have any bike racks at all. We are going to bring our pop up tent trailer so that rules out a hitch mounted system. I may have a rack attached to the top of the trailer or else I need to look into a roof system, although I believe they can only hold 2 bikes. This weekend we’ll try to get most everything sorted out.

As for activities we would be interested in:

~ Biking (either family or Mtn Biking)
~ Canoeing
~ Fishing (either on shore or offshore)
~ Hiking

And of course some trail driving.

I think a few of years ago when we were passing by the lake this campground in next to, the kids wanted to go swimming. The outside temp was nice in the 80’s but the water was kind of cold and only my son would go in and that was just below his waist. I believe this was in mid-late August.

This weekend we should decide on what to bring for the pot luck dinner.

Bob,

I'm down to pitch in a few bucks to use the extra camping spot as our main "hang out" point.

Lance,

Thanks I think I may take you up on that. These bike racks do not mount to the factory cross bars do they? It looks like I would need to get a set of the low riders and cross bars. Does this sound correct to you?
