My sister is getting scuba certified in Fort Bragg next weekend and I'm looking for a place to camp and to do some wheeling while she is diving.... Is the Black Coast still accessible to vehicles? Is there any good camping (cheap or free) locally? I'm planning on following the railroad tracks toward Willits too.... They look really interesting on a map.

Anyone have thoughts, tips, ideas or want to join?

i'll have to keep that in mind.... its pretty far for me but maybe i can make it.

 

Go north 30 miles on forest road 431 and there are a couple of beaches to camp at, part of Sinkyone State park. I was on this road about 12 months ago, it is NOT maintained. It was wet and muddy and I needed the locker to get up the hills. All the roads here and the King Range have spectacular views. Some of the roads are designated 4x4 only.
