Ok I'm planning a long weekend in moab for the last weekend in October. I have a stock 1989 4runner. Should we take the girlfriend's jetta to save on gas and hike the area, or should we take my 4runner and try some trails? What trails or routes would my truck handle if its fully stock.

At this point, i'd say you are pushing snow, but if the weather looks good, i'd grab the runner...get the Wells book, and see what that says about the trails...i know what your truck is capable of, since i have an 87 that was once stock in Moab, however, your own personal comfort level will limit you more than your truck will...also, if you are going to be alone, you can use the book to decide how far away from help you want to get...

Your truck can do Elephant Hill and Fins and Things with no problem, a few others it can do, but not a good idea if you are alone...

I bought the book and it looks as though there are some easy drives that i could do with no worries. I think taking the truck would be worth it, desides why should I own the thing if I'm never going to get it dirty.
