Figured that with Bear Bear kinda kicking off the wheeling for the rest of the year in SoCal that we should start planning a run. I was thinking Superstition, maybe coming in from Ocotillo Wells and running the washes up to Superstition and camping there for a Saturday night and then playing in the dunes and crawling some of the backside.

Mike, I know that I kinda borrowed some ideas from the TBH trip I did with you

Well? I'm totally open to suggestions if someone would like to do something else and with the amount of time for people to work their schedules to be able to make this trip we should have a large turnout.

Maybe a meet and greet sort of thing since I've noticed that there are a couple new faces on the boards since all the SoCal trips shut down in May.

I am up for what ever. I would like to do some Truck Haven desert stuff again soon. The run that had heart attack hill and the squeeze was great and I would love to do it again.

Still gonna be hot there for at least a month or so.

Yeah yeah I'll stop crying about the heat.....

Yeah, the heat ain't over for a while. We just came back from Utah and I believe it reached 140 between Utah and Vegas. The Thermometer in Baker said 124 and it felt much cooler there. My GPS kept climbing up to 162 deegrees, but I'm not sure how acurrate that is.

Anyway, our summer just began. But I like the ocotillo to superstition Idea.

Another good destination is Painted gorge in Ocotillo. just beatiful up there,

Pinyon Mountain Trail is what you are thinking of.

Oh, and I am definitely down for many runs this year, but it is going to be HOT for quite a while yet. It'll still be hot through September.

I guess I am just a sissy but the idea of Mexico is not real great to me. I would need to be in a group of guys who really know the area and at least one spanish speaker. Call me a stereo-typer and all that what ever but I do not want to end up in a Mexican prison or getting my rig ganked.

STEREO-TYPER!!!

j/k

I understand where you are coming from. The one time I came close to the mexican border (El Paso, TX), the first night I was there, they reported about how the police found a bunch of dead bodies somewhere around there... Better safe than sorry, and no one can blame you for that.

So what month do we want to do a run? Seems like the general consensus thus far is for a wash run from Ocotillo Wells to Superstition. October is out for me - I can't go anywhere that whole month.

Marc and I were talking today about a posible shake down run for the SAS at Corral Canyon. But a extremely early run and just a quick check of Rovers moving parts.

Ryan you could kind of make use of the same type of easy run to check out the Long Travel gear.

Cabras is fun if you come in through santo tomas.
I just got back from Mexico right now, went from hacienda santaveronica, outside of Tecate, to laguna hanson, to ojos negros then down to ensenada, and partied it up. did a little diving around k38's today nice run.

it would be real cool to follow the 500 course out of ojos through the valle to the south and then cut west to vallay uruapan and THEN to cabras

By the way i speak fluent spanish and know my way around very well.

October for the dez run, and trust me Ryan, if you start in Borrego springs you can hit a neat wash down to the back side of Blow sand, there is even a real cool slot canyon to hike on the way that actually has 1 real cool rock crawlin section. I'd be happy to lead that part

I want to wheel.

i've been traveling in baja since i was 15 no 14 years old and i have had a few run in's with the policia but all have ended with a few bucks lost on my part. as for theives groups of gringos are never a good target. always travel and camp in a group and i dont see many people having problems but when you venture off on your own.... that's when you get ripped

it sounds like it will be early next Sat. Not this Sat. Marc and I thought that 0700 at Carl's Jr would be a good starting time. I am sure he would be glad to get rid of some parts and clear out his garage.

What type of locker did you do? I am guessing a lock rite.

I would also like to see how it works for you.

I haven't been to mexico in years, but back then, riding motorcycles and camping, as long as someone spoke spanish to understand what the federalies were saying it was all cool. there is lots of really cool open places there.
