Optimist? Realist! The real bugger is it may be done this week, but it could be another month before I touch it again.

By the afternoon of the second day, Jim had the brake pump down and the front was locking pretty reliably. I had one in the rear and got annoyed by holding the brake to move forward.

Moab is a whole different driving style. It is not all crawling, it is not all bumping, it is knowing when to do what.

Detroit Truetrac Model #: 911A342 (fits all Toy 7.5", 27 spline front diffs)

I was very happy with it. Most of the time I drove without even thinking about it being there. There were a few occasions (very few) when I had to work it with the brakes to get it to lock up.

Since it was my first real trip with it or a rear locker I was amazed at the new capability of my rig. Definately better than open diffs!

Adrian, you hit the nail on the head. That's the reason I keep being drawn back to that area time after time, lots of different situations mean lots of thinking to find the best way to get through. That and the scenery doesn't suck either. Glad you guys had a blast and I hope to meet up next time your out there.

I've been to Moab a few times, but not enough to learn the trails. Without a doubt, I think the Poison Spider-Golden Spike-Gold Bar combo trail is my favorite. There are so many different types of obstacles; true rock crawling with the Marlin Crawler, bumping with the skinny pedal and very steep hill descents. This summer I plan on taking a few more trips to Moab and run a few other trails as well.

The last time I did Cliff Hanger, I really loved it, and I'm looking foward to spanking it again, this time without even using the rock sliders. Actually, I never touched them this last round.

I actually DENTED one of my sliders last weekend. I have no idea where. It's the front of the passeger's side loop. The loop isn't bent, just has a 1" diameter dent. I also sraped a line down almost the entire length of the passenger's side. The sliders pay for themselves over and over.

Hello Everyone,

Thanks for sharing the Moab pics! The pics have me wishing i was "home". Wheeling in New Zealand is a dull affair, even with the rocks, mud and the sheep/cow dung that keeps the rocks on the trail slick. Didn't get stuck once and i was driving a Toyota Rav4

SteveO: Glad to see Carole behind the wheel, when will she start competing on the 4x4 rockcrawling circuit?

Longing for the USA,
Lee

I finally got some of my photos up from the trip: http://community.webshots.com/user/sandman_02

For some very strange reason I was having problems uploading the pics on the dial-up. I'm also having problems with WebShots not showing all the photos. I think they must have a mirror server. If the album doesn't have 15 photos, it's not the current version (check back tomorrow maybe?).

I was working on making a DVD for the guys who went on the trip, and I made a little summary movie. I thought I'd post it. It's long, and argumably gets boring, but there's a of couple funny things I put in. If you have a fast connection, you might want to check it out.

When and if we hit it big (lottery), Carole is seriously interested in competing. We already have the headset communication planned out, and she is ready to get behind the wheel and step on the skinny pedal. Even though she yelled in one of the videos (Rock Chucker), she still kept her foot on the gas. She did really well!

It should be done mid-week. I'm almost done.

This is quite possibly the coolest 4runner photo I've ever seen.

Makes me want to buy another 4runner to pump up like that. I'm still at the "skeert to scratch my paint" stage.

The video looks great Mike.

Watching Steve and Steve do Widowmaker and Rockchucker was truly awesome and I still wish we could have given Hunt another go at Widowmaker.

Let me know where to send the cash, I would dig a copy of the footage.

Don't forget about the one of Schaefer in the same place.

It was truly awesome to see those guys climb that. What might have been even cooler was the looks on all of the Jeep driver's faces when they did it.
