Dinosaur fossils

Well my 5yr old is really into Dinos. I was thinking it would be cool to take him on a trip to see some fossils and other dinosaur related stuff. I remember as a kid my parents took me to some place in arizona , im wondering if any of you guys know of some good areas to visit. As close to so cal as possible.

Thanks
Aaron

A cool place to go is just west of Delta Utah (on old US 6). There are a range of mountains with trilobite fossils you can dig yourself, either in a commercial dig or along the road:

Or father east in Utah is Dinosaur National Monument: http://www.nps.gov/dino/
Otherwise, Petrified Forest NP is one closer place: http://www.nps.gov/pefo/

Theres a place in Morrison, Colorado called Dinosaur Ridge, which has a group of footprints. I wouldn't say its worth a trip though, unless you happen to be in the area.

Post up a new thread if you sort of want to make a trip out of this. I know AZ is a little far from SoCal but as long as there's good scenery, I'm happy to leave San Diego!
