Bring the sunscreen and make sure your A/C works! I wish I knew of fun things to do, but I am generally bored. I also wish I knew of some good trails, but I don't... However, I know one of the yotatechers here has a site devoted to colorado and many of the trails here... I just can't find the addy...

I've already been discussing this for awhile with Ric. I'm open to do stuff on the 18th and 23-25th, his family's schedule permitting.
Maybe when Matt gets back from his trip later tonight, he can move this into the off-road planning section unless another mod sees this first. All of the locals frequent there too so it will be read, plus it won't get pushed down the page(s) as quickly.
If a wheeling trip doesn't work out, we should try for another dinner someplace. We haven't done one in awhile and I know Ashu (ts1) is wanting to do this to meet some folks as he is a recent Washington transplant.
Anyone else have any ideas?

Be sure to take a Coors Brewery Tour!!!!!!!! Since I work there and all, tours are everyday except Sunday.
If the Rockies are in town, you can always score pretty cheap Tix at game time.
What I do know about the W.W. rafting: stay away from the companies that run Clear Creek. That is the river that runs along the I-70 through the mountains - not much more that a glorified float trip, this time of year. The Arkansas is probably your best bet.
As far as Wheeling goes I know of a few good trails pretty close to Denver.
Bill Moore Lake Trail: the pics on my website are from that trail – www.brunoandlori.com/4x4/4runnerpage.html
St. John's Road - that is by the town of Montezuma/Keystone Ski Area - there is a whole bunch of connecting trails in that area.
Make sure to get some USGS Topo maps for the area, they are pretty good about having the "jeep" or rather "4 Runner" trails mapped out.
There are some good books that I bought at Barnes that have the trails listed out pretty nicely to.
Hope this helps

Okay, how about this:
We'll definitely do some wheeling on the weekend (8/23-24). I'm good to go. It sounds like Ashu is as well. And I think Alan is always up for a trip! Hopefully, we can get folks to leave after work on Friday evening. And again, I'm open through Monday, the 25th so I can continue on. Matt (jx94148), from the Springs, might even go with you on a weekday outing.
As for the trails, Ric, what are your goals (scenic, technical, etc.)? I don't think I've asked you before, but have you been out here before? If not, or at least if you haven't been on some of the trails, I'm going to assume you'll want to get your money's worth and get in the scenic variety, most of which can be moderate in difficulty. We can probably fit in a harder run somewhere as well. I have all the trails in mind that we can fit in.
I'm also going to say we'll skip the San Juans in the southwest region in the best interest of whoever else might be attending. So, I think the Crested Butte area is far enough. Ric, would you be interested in camping, or would you be moteling it somewhere?
Let's also plan for a supper/dinner (whatever you people like to call it!) somewhere. We've done Woody's Pizza and Traildust Steakhouse in the past, not that we're limited to those. So, providing we're out on an excursion on the weekend, that means the dinner would have to be on a weekday. Personally, the evening of Monday the 18th would work best here as I work until 8 on the other nights. I can always have someone cover for me at work though, so I don't want to be the limiting factor. Ric already said that Tuesday is out. I want to see some of you Front Range people who us regular trail running folks have not met yet there.

sounds good
monday dinner sounds good, you let us know wherew to eat,, we are on your terf, lol, might cut it close, but doable, as far as the camping, im for it, im not sure "she" would be, as far as the goals,, FUN, yes scenic trails would be great, as the more technical stuff scares her, but i think as long as we are with a few guys, that know what they are doing, she will be ok, remember, my Runner is pretty stock, no lift or winch YET.. i have been to Denver once, not wheeling thou, and it was just a weekend, so i know nothing about it, other than its beautiful.. the concert is the 20th wed. so wed. night is out, cant think of anything else right now,,, I CANT WAIT....

I'm up for some dinner! I haven't gotten to meet any of you yet, so that'd be cool. Unless you all head out for some drinks... I can only have drinks in Germany or possibly Ireland. I can't wheel since my mother'd get just a tad (understatement) worried about something happening to me, plus I need new shoes, as my rear tires are starting to show wear indicators...
Where is most everyone, in the springs, or in denver? Where did you all meet for dinner the time before?

This probably needs to be moved to a different forum, but I dunno
. Anyway I won't be up there until the 22nd, but if you guys go wheelin on Sat. 23rd I'd definately be up for a nice little run. I'd prefer something scenic and fun over something crazy because I really don't want to get stranded in Denver with any broken parts as I'm coming from ABQ and I start school on Monday.

Sounds great, we'll stick to scenic trails that I'd rate a 9 or 10 in the scenery department. They're fun too. Nothing difficult or anything that would hurt a stock Toy.
We need to give Ric a good tour while he's here and give him his money's worth. So, I'm thinking we'll start out by camping near Mt. Antero on Friday night and do it on Saturday. Take Tincup Pass over to Taylor Park area and do Taylor Pass with a possible stop in Aspen. Maybe we should stop there just so he can say he's been! From there, take Pearl Pass (if open) to Crested Butte. I'm planning to run Pearl after everyone departs from CO4RJ to check its status. Take Schofield Pass (assuming people want to give it a shot--it's not hard) to a Colorado icon, the Crystal Mill. Then Lead King Basin to Marble. Marble to Glenwood Springs and then home.
I hope "she" likes shelf roads with exposure, as well as the boys for that matter! Just passing that along to get mentally prepared. You have to go on that type of stuff to get the views. Again, all of the trails are moderate in difficulty and safe.
If Ray is wanting to join us for Saturday only, we'll see if we can fit anything else in. We'll see where we camp on Saturday night and finalize the schedule a bit later.
Plays_with_Toys, don't worry about the drinks. We'll stick to a family location and I'll probably have a soft drink anyway myself. I mentioned the places where we've previously gone above. Why don't you put your mom on the line, sounds like I need to have a word with her!
One of these days when you get new shoes, you'll definitely have to join us up in the hills. 4-wheeling doesn't have to be a near death experience.

:bounce2: Hey all,
Do you guys have room for 1 more rig?? My wife and I would love to join you. I am a newbie to the board but have done quite a bit of wheelin' in Colorado. Scenic trails sound great. We would also be up for some supper/dinner to meet some new faces.

I'm in!
Getting my shackle hangers welded on tomorrow. Also getting my camber issues straightened on Saturday.
Darren-
I was going to ask you if you wanted to go with me to do that. You beat me to it. Mind if I tag along?
As far as dinner, the 18th would be fine for me, too. How about McDonald's!
I wish Reggie's in Bailey was open
Awesome homemade bread!
For a fun dinner, there's Joe's Crab Shack. One in Aurora and one in Westminster. There's also Hops' Brewery - Golden & Highlands Ranch. I'm having a brain fart...what else is there?
