BURRO DAYS this weekend too!

I was thinking and I was right. This weekend is BURRO DAYS in Fairplay. (Always the last weekend in July)
On one hand, this is good because it is fun and there are lots of things to do in Fairplay. (Like the championship gold panning competitions (dry AND wet!) On the other hand, the LLAMA's race over the pass on Saturday when we want to drive it. (The Burro's always go on Sunday.)

Now, the races are usually in the morning, but we may have to or would want to wait or at least be cognizant that there may be a race going on over mosquito pass.

Good point, leiniesred.

Should we change the location?

Somewhere near Georgetown?

Hmm, dodging llamas on a narrow 4wheel drive trail could be challenging...

No, the llamas don't go over the pass. I already called the Fairplay ranger office, and asked about this a week ago. They told me the burros run sunday over the pass, but the llamas only do a 5 mile run down in the valley. It'll be crowded through fairplay, but we should have smooth sailing after that.

As for the plan, we are meeting at 10 am at the gas station in fairplay that is located at the intersection of US 285 and HWY 9. We'll be on CB Channel 4. Bring a lunch, and be prepared to have fun. I recomend that people bring gear in case of a rain shower, but should be fine.

I'll lead the run, but if someone else really wants to, they can instead, just let me know.

Since were not sure... I think we should still meet at the same spot and plan on doing Mosquito Pass. If it looks like we won't be able to do it or somebody has a problem with running Llamas over, we can always change our minds and do Waldorf Road (Not sure if thats the right one...) Or another one over near Goergetown, like Geneius.

AxleIke: Thanks for the llama info.

My GF and I are planning on going over the pass, then up birdseye gulch, back to 91, then south to Leadville for supper. We're going to try to stay at the Delaware, but it is currently booked up. If not, we're camping or something. Then get up Sunday, watch the start of the burro race, then drive around on the highway to Fairplay to mess around town a bit before heading home. Might as well make it a weekend get-away.

Thanks AxleIke for checking on that. My kids are actually excited to see Llamas, so we're definitely in.

No Expo for me on Sunday, my B-day is that day and my family has something else planned. Hmmm, maybe they're taking me there. Oh, that would be great.

Okay, CB is installed with my new FireStik Firefly. I've never used a CB before, so this Rookie will need some help from you vets.

I won't be there for dinner, I've got a family bbq back in Bailey i have to get to before 6.

As for being new with the CB, it's pretty simple. Just make sure you keep your mouth about 1 to 2 inches from the mike when you speak, or you'll be garbled.

Think I'm out. GF's Dad talked me into running Holy Cross with a bunch of Jeeps last night. Maybe I'll see you guys in Leadville for supper.

YEAH i just tuned up my truck for the Trip boy does it make a difference. Also found out the wire going to my throttle sensor was disconnected, no wonder why it was idling high.
Also put some BG 44K in the tank. Had a bad plug that was a pain to get out, It was runing 3 of one type and 1 of another. Glade i bought some NGK, and new wire's and cap and rotor, if i only had time and money for the front locker and a new suspension. Oh yeah and some new rubbers. I am ready for tommarrow just got wash her up , and pack her up! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought a cheap CB Radio at Wal-Mart, but don't have the time tonight to learn how to wire it up, plus I didn't realize I needed to buy the antenna separately (doh).

Oh well, hopefully I have a CB for the next trail run
