No fires.
"Campfires are prohibited, except in fire pits in developed campgrounds. Gathering wood is unlawful and burning of wood is not allowed in the backcountry. Use of a low impact backpacking stove is encouraged. "

EDIT--there is a fireplace inside the geologist's cabin...does that count?

Man,
Sometime you can be to busy.
I didn't get a chance to cancel my spot today. If someone wants the girl on the phone said i could talk to the person in spot 20 and switch with them. So if you guys want swap spots with people in 20 and use "my spot" as a staging/ what ever spot. Might as well have some use out of it.

It seems as though a fire in the cabin would be fine, just not anywhere else.
Ken - I wasn't sure if you were going to be taking the 5 or the 395. I'm going to explore the Trona Pinnacles on my way up the 178, then come in through the south and run around for a bit. What time were you going to head over to PSR?

Can't really answer that exactly, but Ken and I will be coming in from the north, and exploring things like the Eureka dunes, and such. Although we're coming in early from Bishop, we probably won't hit PSR until late afternoon. (This is my guess at this time)

Frank just called and said he isn't going to make it after all. He just put a new motor in his jeep and hasn't even had it out of the driveway yet. I guess he looked at the itenerary and has already been those places many times so he didn't want to chance it, breaking in a new motor at DV. I'm bummed, he could have shown us some cool stuff out there.
Ken, don't forget your cb handset!

Tanto,
Just so there's no confusion from my side (not that anyone would care) but can you change my tentative status on the first post.
As posted previously, I have site no. 15 and I am departing Agoura Hills around 12noon Friday and will be with the group until Sunday afternoon.
See you guys there.
Mark

I just got a call from Ryan...his truck was broken into this morning. They broke his window, stole his GPS and clothes. He is probably not going to make the trip...

Yeah, that one incident pretty much iced my DV plans. Lance really did all the legwork and has the main route info so you will be in capable hands I'm sure. I felt a little better when a guy said his car was stolen right behind mine....
Catch you guys next year. I thought I might still be able to pull of the trip, but it didn't turn out that way.

Just got back! Me and Jack had an awesome time. Thanks to everyone for helping keep an eye on the little guy. Ryan, sorry to hear about your truck, I guess you will have to do two trips next year.
