Cruise Moab '04

Went to Cruise Moab '04 last week. Since my FJ-40 wasn't ready to go I took my '03 Tacoma TRD d-cab. Had a blast! Ran Hell's Revenge on Fri, then Gold Bar Rim with my wife and daughter on Sat. The "Stockoma" on 32" BFGs did great!! I did give the Stubbs sliders a work out though!! Here are some
pics!!

I assume you have a locked rear?

How did you like Hell's Revenge? Did you end up on any bypasses?

TRD = locked rear!

Hell's Revenge was fine!! Even wet - it rained all Thursday night!! I only skipped Hell's Gate and Escalator, which technically aren't part of the trail, and the only other place where I considered a bypass was Tipover Challenge. From the photos you can see I didn't take the bypass. If I had been locked upfront, I would have attempted Hell's Gate!! The only work out my sliders got on Hell's Revenge were through the squeeze to finish up. The sliders got more of a work out on Gold Bar Rim the next day!

Basically a stock Tacoma SR5 TRD on 32" BFGs and Stubbs sliders. I oredered a 3" Cornfed lift just for this trip, but they had some issues with shipping and got it out to me too late - so I just did it unlifted! I have some scrapes on the bottom of my front and rear bumpers and a nice dent in the stock skidplate. I'm convinced that 3" of lift would have eliminated most of that!! I only got some slight rubbing with the 32s!

Nice! I just picked up my FJ40 a couple months ago, and would love to take it to Moab at some point.

Awesome FJ! Looks like you've done alot of work. BTW- where/how did you do your disc setups for the front and back? I'm trying to decide whether to go with mini truck discs in front, or just get a kit.

Thanks, I have all the parts I need, except a custom gas tank to go under the cage, and I just need to find time to throw it all together!! The front axle is a 76 and is basically a stock LC disc brake set up. I do, however, have mini truck Longfields and mini truck Aisin hubs! The rear is a 75 and uses GM/Eldorado calipers attached to a bracket made by a friend of mine. www.ih8mud.com has all the info you need to do your brakes!!

Thanks Sean, IH8MUD has given me alot of information since I started this project. I'm hoping to finish the interior in the next week or so, then move on to the "serious" mods.
