Rae, my girlfriend, and I are planning on it. Summer can't come soon enough!
For the folks a little unsure of the terrain. The Buena Vista area is beautiful, all those wonderful trails to run. I went on a few last summer (Antero, Brown's Lake, Boulder Mtn) in my totally stock 1994 4Runner on 29 inch tires; stock skids, running boards. I didn't have a problem anywhere. It was my first time 4wheeling. Great fun!
Ric, thanks for taking the reins and working so hard on this event. I know working on the T-shirts alone is like a full project in itself, let alone trying to figure out logistics for all the rigs and various folks coming. Then there's all the time contacting vendors to find sponsorship, handling the money, the raffle, the campsite, overseeing the event, and much more that I don't know about I'll bet. You have a ton of work on your plate.
I for one would like to help out, even if just a little, and ease the huge workload if I can. What kinds of things do might someone like me take on? I was thinking of taking on a small component and reporting back to you that way you stay the point of contact but I can worry about the details for you.

Oops sorry about the mixup.
Alan, I didn't mean to confuse credit where credit is due. Thanks for the above. I'm looking forward to meeting you in person at the Jambo. And heck yes I'm in for pre running the trails. I was planning on heading back to that area already anyhow for some camping and hiking.

Honestly, I couldn't do this without Ric's help.
Yes, there will be lots of pre-runs...when the snow starts melting...and after I get regeared (two weeks!). There are several trails around there that I want to scout. Watch this sub-forum for "CO4RJ Pre-run - [trail name and date]" When we plan those runs, we'll have meeting places either in the metro area or in BV.
I would like to tentatively start pre-runs in April when the snow starts melting. I'd like to include Taylor Pass as one of the options for this year's CO4RJ. And historically, that doesn't open up until mid to late June because of snow at the summit.

I hope gas gets cheaper, cuz I don't know if I can afford to drive down there EVERY weekend (not that it would stop me...)

I am going to start planning now so that I can come this year. If I can I will also come down and help with the pre runs as I've done quite a bit of wheeling down in that area.
Alan, let me know if there is anything that I can help out with.

we DO NOT want people calling the campgrounds, and making reservations, it causes to many problems,
PLEASE follow simple rules, this is already turning into a mess, just because a few people have to have a certain spot.
we are trying to keep a record of who is coming for a few reasons, space, food, runs, etc.

First post has been amended (once again).
A GROUP SITE HAS BEEN RESERVED. THIS MEANS THERE WILL BE NO RESERVING CERTAIN SPOTS WITHIN THE GROUP SITE. DO NOT CALL CHALK CREEK TO RESERVE A SITE WITHIN THE GROUP SITE. IF YOU HAVE SPECIAL NEEDS, YOU CAN RESERVE YOUR OWN SITE OUTSIDE THE GROUP SITE

I just went up to Buena Vista on Monday March 12th and there's still quite a bit of snow on the trails. I got about 100 feet into Mt. Antero Trail, 30 feet into St. Elmo, and didn't bother trying to go up Tin cup looking past the snow mobilers. One of the snow guys said his son's went dirt biking on the east side of the Arkansas River and thought there could be some decent trails there. I don't know the east side and it was getting dark so I didn't check it out.
Mt. Antero Trailhead from Chalk Creek

About 30 feet into St. Elmo. I had to dig out. My buddy didn't have tow points. I even Hondas come with tow points. What the heck?

We were like crack addicts trying to do anything to get a fix. This was at a parking lot on the way down.

I stopped by a friends house in Conifer and helped her chop wood. She told me she felt a little Tom Sawyer like...whitewashing fences, watching me split wood as she played with the camera.

When? Where? Now!
