UPDATE
I think there will be 25 rigs strong and as many as 35, and the boards havent really picked up steam yet.
A land cruiser club from MI is coming down.
Theres some more stuff for the raffle.
As soon as I get my beadlocks fixed I will go down to the cliffs and scout out some fun intermediate trails with Joe and/or Tom and my GPS. (I know where the easy and hard trails are but the middle trails are kinda hidden
)
Any who this looks like it could be a monster event (probably the biggest toyota event in the midwest, I think) and its still 1 1/2 months out.
So I figured a little update was in order.

My new '85, what do I need to be trailworthy?
Here is a pic of my newly purchased '85 4runner. The truck sat for 10 years so I have a few issues to take care of. Anyone know where to get a brake booster? Anyways I am really going to try to make the trip. I don't have very much wheeling experience and was wondering what I need to be trailworthy. Obviously I am not lifted and locked but I was refering to stuff like tow hooks and straps. I have tow hooks in the front but not much in the back. Do you guys use CB's to communicate on the trails? Any must have things on a mostly stock truck that I am missing? I have never been wheelin with an organized group before. Just want to be somewhat prepared and not be the guy asking for help all day. Thanx AL

We dont have any "required" items like TTORA and TCLA. But you sould have recovery points front and back and a strap is a nice thing to have. We do use CB's.
As for your truck you will do just fine as long as you dont have highway touring tires. but even then we will get you through.

As far as the trails go you should be fine with the light group. I cant think of any 4wd toyota truck, 4runner, land cruiser, fjc, etc... that will have a problem with that group. Like I said, last large group we ran through the cliffs we had 2 new shinny LR3's with us and they didnt get a scratch or even get stuck.
NOTE: the cliffs is very weather sensitive if they get a good wet week then all the trails will jump up a notch. the week of the event I will be in contact with cliffs on the condition of the trails and will keep everyone informed. If anyone is uncomfortable there will be plenty of passenger seats so you can get a feel for the park before taking your own truck out. That being said I wouldnt and didnt hesitate to take a truck like yours out.
As for what kind of $ you can expect to spend I am talking to the cliffs now about some price related things and will get back to you later.
EDIT: After looking at your avitar it looks like you have running boards. LOOSE THEM. you can put them back on after the event, they will cause you problems!
