Hey all, its been 3 years since i was on the hunt, but now prospects are looking very real. I found an 83 2wd. Here is the link to the craigslist ad:

The frame may or may not be cracked im guessing inbetween the cab and the bed. theres no muffler(always the case in illinois) and the drivers side lock doesnt work right. im already thinking 500 just for what id have to take to put into it, not to mention the future upgrade to 4wd.

In your collective honest opinions, do i go after it? I'll be wanting to test drive it next week if its still there. i dont roll to a test drive with out cash in hand. i dont want to be that guy.

 

id go drive it and inspect this crack in the frame.
id pay $500 tops as a parts truck,if the frame was bad off.
if it was only a small crack,no rot....$700 would be pushing it.

but id search around first,his ad should be there awhile.just the mention of cracked frame,and 2wd should help him keep it.

thats just my opinion on the truck,youll get other opinions soon.
a few mths ago i found a 83 4x4 with spare axel set and spare 35 inch boggers for $800 on craigslist.
had surface rust only,new head that needed installed,spare parts engine in the bed....i passed on it.
shouldnt have....but did.

 

Possible cracked frame..$250 for a parts truck..
If you want 4wd eventually I would keep looking...
But if you want a project go for it...
It looks beat

Its worth 500 for parts I wouldn't even think about trying to convert it to 4wd

Ya, the bad side of waiting is that money is worth a little less and a little less every day. but hopefully i can find something..

 

havent meet them,but they live about 10-15 mins away,my co worker grew up with those guys.
he says they are tired of being semi famous....lol.
the show is about 75% entertainment,that not how they really act.
its all about living up to the coonass stero type.

the risk are real,the gators can and will eat you if the chance is presented.
