alright searching craigslist today and found a 85 4runner, 3in lift, sr5, factory sunroof, power windows, cruise, everything, soft top, 22re, with over 300k miles, says its runs but needs rings, very under powered, for 1500 he said he'd include, 2x 4.88 thirds, and a dual case adpt, a spare top shift case, and histeer arms, has some rust on it, but what the pics look like on my phone i think its fixable, my dad wants to half the cost with me because he wants one so im thinking about it, thoughts?

I'm sure you know what you're getting into. With over 300k and in need of rings I'd completely rebuild or replace the motor. It looks like a big project but it would be fun. It looks like it's got the "vertigo" seats in the back. Some people go crazy over those.

 

Sounds like you have near the cost of the rig in parts. Could part it out and break even (or at least close). I'd do it, the wife would be , but I'd be very tempted.
