Buying & Selling Advice - Feeler/Gauging InterestThis general forum is for those seeking information about buying, model features/differences, pricing to sell, and related advice
Considering selling my 4Runner and not really sure what price range I should look for. It's in much better shape than 99% of the ones I see online, along with many repairs some customizing, and it's also a 2-door which is very rare.
- I've owned it for about 8 years and there is 271k on the body.
- Interior is in fantastic shape with original floor mats, only issue is the drivers side bolster is starting to wear down, of course
- Power mirrors, windows, locks, all work great
- FACTORY alarm system (I've had to argue with Toyota techs who wouldn't believe these came with them in 1990 but I've pulled out the alarm ECU and checked)
- There are about 50-60k miles on a remanufactured 3V-ZE.
- Sprayed with Monstaliner truck bedliner (not rolled on) - I have a documented post of the entire process which included all door jams etc.
- Optima yellowtop battery less than a year old
- Brand new waterpump, thermostat, and timing belt.
- LED headlights
- 32x11.5 BFG KO2's about 2 years old
- KYB MonoMax shocks and springs installed in the rear last summer
- NGK spark plugs and wire installed last summer
- Distributor cap and rotor last summer
- Brake master cylinder, rear-to-front steel brake lines (wow that was expensive), and brake pads done ~6 months ago
- Radiator ~1.5 - 2 years old
- K&N Air filter
- Probably some more minor things all over that I'm forgetting
- Oil changes done with synthetic every 3k
- Have receipts for just about everything going back to the mid 90's
- Paint is chipping on the mirrors because I forgot about them until the paint was almost dry so I had to quick spray them. I'll spray them with black bedliner before selling.
- Has a borla exhaust but will need a new exhaust as the tail-pipe rusted off and I believe there is a hole in the cat
Well I think she's pretty special. What do you guys think? This is in the Seattle area by the way.
This is prior to the led headlights and new rear shocks LED headlights Primered while painting, as you can see I took it apart to paint everything separate rather than just spraying it as is. clean body lines Fresh paint
Nice looking 4runner! I've always liked the look of the 2nd gen body with only 2 doors. Was it called a "Sport" version or am I making that up?
I have absolutely no idea how much it's worth, can't help you there sorry. Checking similar years/adds online in your area will most likely give you at least somewhere to start, then you can start factoring in all the mods etc. you've done.

Thanks! I think it might have been called a Sport version. Yeah it's hard to tell. I see people trying to sell 4 doors that are stock with original engines over 200k for about $6k in my area which makes me think this one would be worth over $8k but I just don't know if people would actually buy an old 4runner for that much.
