April 21-22: Sallisaw wheeling
#44
The tractor and Yota, awaiting the day:

5 minutes in on day one, Cory gets stuck:

Hans on the tractor moving a rock that was too big for the tractor (as currently equipped - Note the marks on the ground from dragging it in the bucket):

The start of our rock hill:

Some running of the hill while creating it, Day 1:

- Needing some more fill:

- My turn:

- Day 1 Complete:

5 Minutes into Day 2:

The wounds:

The Fix:

Ever wonder what the bottom of your rig looks like in the sunlight?:

The flop and pull, a 2-step method to unflipping your rig:

Mom and Dad enjoying some wheeling fun:

With Hans' rig decommissioned, that leaves mine to do all the testing:

And the end of Day 2 was the hillbilly method to loading a jeep (do not try this one at home
):

- Hans pointing out that the cows had relight our bonfire and were currently gathering around it... (a little blurry, but you can see the fire):

Hmmm... that doesnt look safe:

Nope, it wasnt:

We did actually get that stupid Jeep on that trailer finally....

Notice in the progression of Jeep loading photos that there's one photo in daylight with the next one being in the dark.... and the Jeep hadn't moved! I've never taken so long to move a vehicle 20 feet before.
Fortunately he didn't post any pictures of our pathetic attempt to start a forest fire on Friday. We spend the first half of the day trying to burn clear some of the rocky land for a trail system. But there just wasn't enough brush to really take. So I don't know what I'm going to do there.... I think when I get the grapple on the tractor I'll clean the areas I can get at with the tractor and dump all the brush in the areas I can't get at with the tractor... then light it
Since I didn't want to work on trails in the middle of bunches of thorn bushes and pine trees, we went to work on the rock hill. And unfortunately we decided to build it right by the road where all the people driving by can watch me roll my rig
And we didn't get any pictures of Cory covering his parents in mud in the mud pit. But that was funny!

Looks like an interesting adventure. One hillbilly to another.....the jeep body loading looked like it might have been a tad embarrassing; but I know how it is, I've been in situations where it should be a fifteen minute job & it ends up taking two days.
Edit: b.t.w., love the blood. That's when you know that A; you're either working hard or B; you're playing hard!

And we can't forget Cory had his 13th or so battery disconnection. After I pulled him out of the creek his truck refused to fire. It's a combination of too short a wire coupled with a battery that has, um, several degrees of freedom.
If he does ANYTHING to his truck before our next wheeling trip, it as to be fixing the battery. I imagine if he flipped his truck his hood would get pretty hot, pretty fast

well hi buddy.... and yes, your beer, your weedeater... must everything always be about you
edit: sorry bout the weedeater, i still feel bad about that, although it was 100% Hans' fault.

If you had stuck around longer we would have made sure you had a chance to drink your beer and break your stuff. I got some stuff that's sure to kill a D35. And if that fails I'm pretty sure we can roll it.
Yeah, I really should have known Cory couldn't be trusted to drive 200 feet without hitting the only obstacle in his path.
And you cold beer is waiting for the next wheeling trip in my fridge. So there's some motivation to go mess up those pretty armorall'd tires.

Truck's back up and running again.... of course I had to fire it up when there was zero wind. It was pretty cool seeing the blue smoke just hang in the air as I ran away trying to find something to breathe.
Now I just got to top off all the fluids that leaked out and clean the blood off the interior and I'm ready to go again!
