1988 Toyota Pickup 3.0 trouble

I'm new here but have been reading some good inf. I bought this truck a couple of weeks ago and drove it 200 miles home. Started good, ran good. The next morning drove 10 miles, ate breakfast and it didn't want to start but finally did. I checked the cold start injector it check good, checked the time switch was questionable on the reading to ground so I replaced it. I also installed new plugs, wires, dist cap and fuel filter. Starts right up but hesitates and coughs for a few minutes but runs fine after that. Drove to get my wheels balanced and the CEL came on. Cut the truck off and CEL never appeared again. Got ready to leave the tire store and it wouldn't start. The mechanic sprayed brake cleaner in intake and it started right up. Drove around for about 20 miles, truck ran fine and CEL didn't come back on. Anyone have any ideas what's going on? Thanks in advance for any help.
Kenny

sounds like fuel and or injector problem.

tried seafoam(chemtool is cheaper) fuel treatment?

search for a post on seafoam/marvel mystery oil treatment by Texas Ace.

Thanks donomite49. I put seafoam in the tank at the first sign of trouble but have not in the intake. The previuos owner put new injectors and a new cold start injector so I believe those to be in new condition. I also have filled it with non-ethanol gas.

I don't have the capabilities to test the fuel pressure rail. I ran the seafoam through the intake this morning. Ran good but about 5 miles down the road the CEL came on again. When I turn it off then back on the CEL clears itself. Can I run it till the CEL comes on then kill then engine by choking the clutch without turning it off then be able to check the codes if I din't turn the key off?

I checked the codes and got a #7 which I'm showing as a bad throttle position sensor. I haven't tested it yet. A lot of post tells you how to test but if the unit test bad and I replace it do I have to make any adjustments since the screw holes are slotted?
