I am thinking very seriously about that one.
Great unit.

But I hear Alpine is coming out with a W205 later, a better model than the current W200 I was drooling over before.

But the Pioneer is sweet.
My local Cartoys is getting it soon, but I think I am going with a rear bumper first, then the headunit.

so i go and try and get my nav system installed today only to find out metra hasent made a filler kit yet for the FJ. I called up circuit city and they said they had a filler kit but they also have to manufacture their own brackets inorder to mount it. Because they are only ones who do this (witch they know) circtuit city quoted me 350$ for the install.... lets just say i left that place in record time leaving a rubber trail from the parking lot. Any suggestions?

How do you like it so far?
Have you tried an iPod with it?

How about voice, do they announce when to turn down a street ect?

I am seriously thinking of getting this tomorrow if the income tax return comes today.

PS, I will not do the bypass.
I will not be using it for vids really.

I love it! it looks amazing, like it came from the facotry like this. My ipod is in the stored in the glove box because with the direct connect cable you can control almost everything from the head unit. This way u dont have to clutter up your center console with another wire and ipod. Im not shure about the voice command yet, im still trying to figure out what everything is and how it works haha. Ill test it out on my way to work this afternoon.
Here are some pics:

Did they hook it up to your e-brake? If so then there should be a light green wire that you can just ground.

But, from everything i have heard is that when the gps reads you moving then the dvd shuts down. There may be a hack out there to stop that with the pioneer but i have never researched it.

the shop that installed it should have hooked it up the the e-brake for you. Just ground the wire there. If they didn't hook it up to the brake then take it back and make them do it cause there is no way you can watch video if it's not hooked up.

I give you this info to use at your own risk. In other words if your watching something while driving and crash don't blame it on me.

Looks great!

Where is your satellite antenna for the GPS?
I have heard many have had great success with it being mounted inside of the front dash right speaker.

I am getting mine installed tomorrow!
All setup for an early install.

They have a dash trim kit in also that should work with it.

Going to run the stock speakers for now, then down the road change them out, and my old school Rockford Fosgate 500a2 will be put in, and I will get one of these dual 10" JL Audio setups to go on the rear right panel.

Not enough room back there to put in my sealed box with the JL 15" W6.
That would sound sweet, but the 4Runner had much more room back aft than the FJ does.

they tried to put the antenna there corey but it wasent getting very good reception so they put mine in the back on the roof. Might work or you i dont know just make shure after they put it on have them drive around the block and see if ur gettin good signal. I had the stock radio and now it sounds 3 times better atleast!! i would also like to upgrade my sound system later on with some new speakers and that nifty box they have on ebay that fits were the stock woofer goes.

Back of the roof, right above where the rear door opens?

I can live with that, I will have to see if it gets a good signal or not up front in the dash.

I would ask you to get a pic, but I know it is midnight there

Are you driving down the beach in that 2nd pic, or is that wallpaper on the unit?

Glad to hear that the sound is much better.
The stock FJammer really only sounds fairly decent when you are playing the iPod through the DICE unit I have since it sends a digital signal I believe to the headunit.

There just is not enough volume with the FJammer, and you get to much distortion when cranking it.

Better replacement speakers will help too.
I will get some recommendations tomorrow from them.

Here is where I saw them mounting the antenna with the speaker.

I have this unit and my gps is mounted on the driver side corner of my dash and gets great reception. Installed myself. Getting behind the unit is not hard at all, so the hack is pretty simple to do.

Yeah, Toyota made it super easy to get to the headunit.

I have had mine out a few times already when I installed the DICE unit for the iPod.

The shop has done several FJs now, I hope they have done a few with NAV, so they will know whether or not the location I wanted the antenna will work or not.
