Hey all,
Just got mine like 2 weeks ago...black cherry, I love it.
I am not as mechanically inclined as most here it seems after reading through some of all you guys do, but I'm not a total dilbert either.
I want to know if the antenna was meant to me removed. I see that it is wrapped in black and there seems to be a wire underneath the black stuff and wrapped around the antenna. Does the wire stop at the bottom of the antenna or if I unscrew it would it be dangling mess.
Just thought I'd ask you all since you have so much experience before I mess up anything on my new baby.

You can unscrew it.
I have had mine off a few times.

 

be careful before you go taking a pair of pliers to it or whatever. The black coating strips VERY easily and the exposed antenna will rust. Not sur if this affects signal pickup but it looks ugly on a brand new beast. Just something small to look out for
