T100's are a great way to go for a cheap truck project, they are an under-rated truck in the Toy Truck fleet. Mine started just like yours and turned out great. Have installed locking hubs, ball joint spacers, upper ball joints Sway-Away torsion bars, wheels and tires, rear lift blocks, front shocks for the lift, new rear bumber, tranny cooler, air intake, tint, and a 2 inch body lift. With the wheels and tires and suspension lift, and body lift I got 4.5 inches of lift. The front end is alittle stiff with the T bar crank but it is very driveable. You do need a streering stablizer shock also, that is a must for the bump steer. Here is a link .

Your idea of cheap and my idea of cheap mustn't be the same.
Mine got stupid expensive pretty quickly once things started adding up.
