IAC valve test. NEED HELP ASAP
I have had an issue with the idle on my 1996 toyota T100 3.4L manual. When warm it idle at about 1800 rpms and im trying to rule things out. I just took off my throttle body and the IAC valve to test and see if they are all right.
RESULTS:
with 12 volts it snaps open and stays there after cleaning it but when I use the 12 volts to close it there is a gap about the width of a paperclip. I dont know how to tell if its closed all the way or not please help!

It should be closed all the way with no gap.
Take the motor off and manually cycle the shutter with yer fingers as you spray some cleaner in between the shutter and the body.
You'll probably hear some crunching as the built up carbon breaks loose.

I'v cleaned the IAC I believe as much as possible and the valve will close all the way when I push it closed but it just spring back open. I took off the motor while it was running and I guess it actually did close because the idle dropped to about 500 or 600.
Now I'm looking for a new IAC. Can I buy just the motor somewhere because the whole valve is very expensive and if not which vehicles can I get the same one from if I were to go to a junkyard.
THANK YOU
Seanicus
PS- I'm in school with a bad job so I'm low on funds right now lol

Why do you need to buy a new motor? Didn't it work just fine before you took it apart?

I ordered a new IAC and replaced the old one and believe it or not it continued to idle at about 2000 rps. Im going to make a new thread to try to find the actual problem.
